Yanks to ban Heading

Has the E&S been teaching you how to write thread titles?

Per the new protocol, children 10 and under will be barred from heading the ball during any official session — practice or game — while players ages 11 to 13 will have heading limited during training sessions.

Methinks their priorities are fucking shite.
 
..........But it's OK for them to carry a gun tucked into their shorts.
 
And yet NFL players are still allowed to abuse painkillers and charge into each other head first.
 
There are some pretty massive lawsuits coming up about that in NFL I think
 
Love to see how they'd defend a set peice.
 
Modern footballs are ok but there is a point, I wouldn't particularly like to see an under ten year old related to me heading the balls that were around when I was a kid.
So proper modern footballs fine but cheap crap that might hold moisture and become heavy no.
 
Most of us will have played football which had to be played with under head height restrictions which probably helped us get better technically with our feet. So in a round about way it could help their Football development.
 
With those old leather and dubbin balls, if you didn't catch it just right it was like heading a stone.

I remember once on a particularly wet day willing the opposition keeper to kick it out of his hands, anywhere, but in my direction.
 
I'm pretty proud of USSF for taking this step, actually.
 
Sums it up really.

If you don't teach kids to head a ball correctly at a young age then they'll have a chance of getting concussion when the start heading the ball as they'll probably do it wrong.

Apparently, it's more about lawsuits than the concern for kids.
 
More about not subjecting the brain to physical force while it's in a crucial stage of development. Heading can be taught with other apparatus'.

Why not wrap all kids up in cotton wool until the get to 18?
