Baseball thread

Apparently turned down $760m over 16 years from the Yankees.

Tight bastards...

There's got to be inflation clauses in a contract that long too

Gets a $75m signing on bonus as well.

Wonder what will happen to wages if the Saudi's decide Baseball is the sport for them

The money is obviously disgusting but from a sporting perspective it’s the 15 year length that is properly baffling. That is an eternity, even in baseball.

It's not too unusual I don't think for a player in their 20s, Bryce Harper signed for 13 years aged 28 for the Phillies and Soto is 2 years younger.

Been keeping up with the Brewers @ Yankees game this evening and find it brilliant that fans being overly negative is a thing in this sport as well.

Yankees won 20-9. Hit 9 home runs (a record for them), Judge with 3 of them and the game included the first 3 pitches going into the stands (all hit against an ex Yankee)....majority of the comments are on the 9 runs against...the deeeefence is shit, too many fielding errors, this will ruin our season (only 160 games to go...)

Enjoy the record breaking win you miserable goons

All day trying to cope with temps over 90, this is a tad annoying

Well...a superb night in the end.

Fuck all happened in the first 5 innings..think the ball was hit 3 times.
Rain got heavier and heavier and a small thunderstorm saw the game delayed.

The restart and it came to life. Yankees snook ahead and then put their foot down and by the end of the 7th were 10 up on the Mariners. 3 home runs hit in that period

I had one wish from tonight's game and that was to witness a home run from Aaron Judge.

Thank you Mr Judge.

That put him on 34 for the season, just one behind the leader, Cal Raleigh.....who just happens to play for the Mariners...he promptly took his lead back to 2 in the 8th innings.

Yankees won 10-3.

I dont understand a lot about baseball...but I bastard love it.

It is a brilliant spectator sport. Definitely my fave of the American big three

I have never been to a MLB game, but I did go to a minor league game 20 years ago. The most boring evening of my life. The only remote semblance of entertainment involved the mascots - when the actual players were off the field.
