The guy on the public address gave the attendance today as 23,000+, which I believe is higher than Bristol’s average, so a decent turnout.
The away section (I was in one of the home sections) looked pretty much sold out.
We were almost completely in control in the first half, until their late free kick goal, and were broadly comfortable in the second half. Despite City raising their game, we really should have scored at least two or three more.
I like Bristol as a city, and for their sake I hope Bristol City FC do not somehow get into and then actually win the playoffs. They would be battered mercilessly every week in the EPL.
However, we’re no great shakes ourselves (thanks to Fosun’s strategy in recent times), and might be back at Ashton Gate again next season. Hopefully not, as Pereira seems to be capable of pulling things around.
I’m minded of Mick’s usual reply to reporters, that it doesn’t matter where you are in the league at any stage. The only thing that matters is that when the final whistle blows on the last game of the season, there are at least three teams below you in the table.
