Coronavirus

He's not taking it. Guaranteed. No Doctor would prescribe it without symptoms to justify it. Any nebulous "help" it may deliver is in reducing symptoms not in giving immunity. IE - its an alleged treatment not a vaccine.

But he thought he would give a boost to the share price of the company making it. Without any thought as to how the audience would react to his words. Fucking dangerous dickhead. Where is Lee Harvey Oswald when he's needed?

Even his pals at Fox News had to rush out a "DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. DO NOT COPY YOUR PRESIDENT" warnings after the Press Conference.

Doesn't he own shares in the company that makes it?

Not to defend him, but its a generic drug so can't imagine anyone would make much money out of it. I used to take it without prescription too, didn't work mind.

If every starts taking it then those that need it - ie lupus sufferers - are going to struggle to get hold of what they need.

" Excess deaths in UK reached almost 55,000 in early May, says ONS

Nick Stripe, head of the health analysis and life events division at the Office for National Statistics, told the BBC a few minutes ago that the total number of excess deaths in the UK - the number above what might expected at this time of year, judged by a five-year average, was just under 55,000 by early May.

Scientists, and ministers, have repeatedly said that the excess death figures will ultimately prove the most reliable guide as to how badly the UK has been hit by coronavirus.

Stripe told the BBC:

'Across England and Wales up to 8 May we are now looking at an excess deaths figure of just under 50,000. If we look at the UK as a whole, that is just under 55,000 excess deaths.

So the gap between Covid-related and excess is about 25% of excess deaths are not explained by Covid being on the death certificate. And that is now a key area of research for us to get underneath that, to understand that.'"

Excess deaths exceed 55,000

I hate Toby Young so much.

Incredibly, he's talking absolute shite.

Rishi Sunak predicts a severe recession and is not advocating the V shaped recovery. Unemployment up 69% so far and set to rise far further in the next few months with vacancies set to fall quite dramatically. The shitstorm is on course to hit August onwards - no predictions yet on the lives ruined and deaths caused by the fall out. Johnson needs to outline a poverty plan and the media need to prepare a clapping campaign for those who look after the destitute/homeless.

I’ve just started following ‪@ProfKarolSikora‬ on Twitter for a bit of positivity on the virus outlook.

Owen Jones quite rightly points out the hypocrisy of the government that is charging immigrant staff (who have saved lives) to use the NHS that they are serving. Also thinks the middle classes should pay cleaners to stay home. No doubt he'll be quite excited by Agenda 21 and the rise of the commune and those local authority committees (nice work if you can get it). Have a feeling there won't be much of a ' middle class ' left in post consumerism UK. He'll be okay though - remember some will always be more equal than others. Anyone for a dacha ?
