Former Wolves forward Ernie Hunt has passed away aged 75. He was our leading goalscorer in our 1966/67 season, though he was later sold to Everton.

Ernie is probably best remembered for his donkey kick goal for Coventry City. A move that was later banned.

R.I.P. Ernie Hunt.

Sad news. RIP

Ex wolf Willie Carr with the flick up.

RIP

Ah man, I remember seeing that goal on my dads match of the 60s,70s,80s VHS collection and instantly going outside with my bro to try it.

I remember watching Ernie back in the sixties. A little barrel-chested bundle of energy. I think he was our top scorer in 1966/67 when we won promotion back to the old First Division. He then played in the side that went to the USA the following year and won the one and only season of the United Soccer Association, beating Aberdeen (Washington Whips) 6-5 in the final. Great memories.

RIP, Ernie.

I believe you are correct. And wasn't that the tour where Wolves spotted a certain Frank Munro.

Sorry, Frank, for the delay in replying - I've been away for a a few days. Yes, quite correct - Frank Munro played for Aberdeen (Washington Whips) in that final and scored a hat-trick. Ronnie Allen Allen was so impressed he signed him for Wolves!

I was too young at the time, but looking at Ernie's stats (ie. goals per game) I don't know why Wolves sold him to Everton.
