The last window could make the January one irrelevant as if we couldn’t attract the players we really wanted then there’s no chance if we’re adrift at the bottom.

What £60million player is coming to Wolves in January? The wages would have to be obscene to sweeten the deal sufficiently, surely. Either that or we go from losing every game to winning every game from here on in to somehow make us look like a team that isn't nailed on for relegation.

Based on the summer incomings I’m not sure we should stand in his way. By the end of the month we’ll have a good idea of whether we can make a realistic attempt to stay up which may have a bigger bearing on what happens in January than who’s pulling the strings.

Pereira and Teti are getting a lot of flak about our signings currently and fair enough, most have looked nowhere near good enough. However from my reading of the situation most incomings were 3rd choice at best and that surely is down to the owners and CEO, it's been general downgrading for a couple of seasons now.

It was reported several times that terms had been agreed between the clubs, but the player vetoed it.

The lure of the PL is strong, but we reeked of long term mismanagement and probable relegation.

I know football isn't like typical job hunting but imagine been a professional footballer and doing a bit of due diligence about a potential employer and Google throwing up Jeff Shi and the "maybe Wolves isn't for you" comment.

Maybe someone somewhere told Shi this and it's why he suddenly 180'ed to returning to Europe and thinking about winning trophies in September.
