Seems a long time compared to various security clearances I've had to do for work - projects for MoD, MoJ and other shady government organisations - though there are various different levels of clearance with their own checks and requirements.Youngest son applied for a job in Telford that does work for the MOD, so needs to pass security checks, the whole process has took about 4 months so far, passed security, now awaiting a start date that could take another month.
