New - The things that really annoy you

Think you'd be surprised at the number of kids who've done similar, certainly all mine have and loads of my mates have.
Don't think there's any more youngsters who are over entitled than any other age group tbh.
That's really good to hear. Sounds like you have yours grounded very well.

Trainee Civil Engineer at Stafford RDC. Started Sept 71, £618 pa.
Might have asked this before but you might have encountered my uncle professionally - can never remember if it was Stafford or Staffordshire council he worked for though, have an inkling it was the latter. Don't think he would've started there until the late 70s or maybe even early 80s.

I'd left Stafford BC by 1978.

I got £11 per week for doing my paper round back in the vey late 80s. Evening papers on weekdays (Burton Mail) and Sunday morning papers (which was a bastard and had to take two trips with a full bag because of all the supplements)

Used to get 2.52 a week for the same, the 2p was for going back Saturday at 5.45 and delivering 2 pinks, in mid 80s

Probably wouldn't have been any overlap then I don't think - he was born in 56 and went to Sunderland Polytechnic before working for the council - did some time working on Newcastle Metro part way through too so probably wouldn't have graduated until 78.

Up at 5am, got to airport 7.30am and had to wait 30 mins for bag drop to open. Got through security nice and quick, stress free. Sat down to have a coffee and get message that flight is delayed from 10.20 to 12.20!

Good ol' RyanAir...

Ventured into Sainsbury's yesterday for the first time in years (Mrs normally shops online but had an operation Friday and resting up).

Fuck me it was like visiting a zoo.

Young mums walking around with phones at 90 degrees to the mouth, discussing latest boyfriends shortcomings (on loud speaker) whilst little johnny runs wild.

Then the elderly on their weekly day out, bumping into someone they haven't seen in ages blocking the aisles as they discuss various health problems.

Gave up went to pay and after waiting for what seemed like hours whilst the till operative discussed holiday plans with a colleague, had a five minute argument with her, as she said she couldn't use a screenshot of my nectar card.

Left with 2 cases of corona, 2 cases of Pepsi Max, orange juice, 2 packs of ham and seeded baps which turned out once again to be bare baps with seed collected nicely in the corner of the packaging.

So we ain't eating much till Mrs recovers but we won't go thirsty.

I think that’s just a sign of getting old. People and things just annoy you more, it happens. It’s either that or you’re just fortunate enough not to have bigger things to worry about and don’t realise or appreciate it.

I hit a moment of truth when I realised I was getting disproportionately annoyed by overgrown bushes and hedgerows in front gardens blocking paths. And leaf blowers.

You don’t want to go down that road mate. But yeah, phones at 90 degrees, that properly does my nut that one.
