Summer 2022 Transfer Window

For a country that is the bastion for capitalism and free choice as the ultimate ideology, your sports teams aren't half socialist in their outlook

Big fan of Ajorque when I have seen him, he had a special on him during the Ligue 1 show that was on BT, I've been oddly. Interested in him since as he is from Réunion, which is one of the French Island countries/Colonies and is also where Payet and Laurent Robert are also from.

Agree that Ajorque would be a very good signing. Mentioned him a few pages earlier on the type of striker we should be looking at.

Who's to say that's the case with any of the people that have been linked to Wolves this summer though? It's easy to pick up something factual like height from a quick search and use that in a description whereas it's much more difficult to trawl through game footage and make a reasoned analysis of someone's ability. Stick some reference to that lack of research into a headline and there's your lazy narrative.
If a striker has a goalscoring record of note that is your go to. Or goal contributions. Or international caps. Something.

There was an (extremely spurious) link to Dzeko earlier in the window. Nobody mentions that Dzeko is 6'4 because his record speaks for itself.

Dzeko has played for top clubs for over a decade, including in this country, it's hardly surprising people know a little more of his reputation. Not everyone you sign is going to be a household name that you know something of.

If Henry, Shomurodov or Ajorque were 5ft 10 people wouldn't jump to the conclusion that they were shit. It's completely foundless, pointless stereotyping based on minimal information.

I guess it's because we know Lage wants a target man and we've been genuinely interested in Kieffer Moore

Target men are shit at football now? Height isn't mutually exclusive to talent.
I didn't say that. I said Kieffer Moore is, and if he's a barometer for the type of target man we're after it's not a huge leap to think other target men we're after aren't great. Along with, you know, our last few seasons of transfer activity not being great as well.

Same argument, being the same 'type' of player doesn't mean you're of the same quality. Keiffer Moore being shit has no more relevance to any forward that's linked than Jesus Vallejo does to Nathan Collins.

The clubs transfer struggles have been more with quantity than quality in my opinion.

Of course it has relevance, if the people who think Kieffer Moore was worth pursuing then they'll think that other substandard players of that ilk are worth pursuing. Those same people also paid actual money for Hwang, not the same type of player granted. But a forward player who is rubbish, so same ballpark.

So Collins is shit because these same people rated Vallejo? That's the argument you're making.

The entire point of my posts this morning was to explain why people might think tall strikers we're linked with might not be that great. Collins is a known entity so "we" knew what type of player we were getting.

And as I said to begin with, it's a lazy assumption that any tall striker is shit, everything you've said this morning has confirmed that.

What's your rationale for thinking they aren't shit?

We've signed one decent central striker in 5(?) years, we gave bonatini a stupid contract, we signed Silva years before he was ready (and loaned him out when he was looking like he might contribute), we tried to sign Moore, so for whatever reason we don't look like we make good decisions in that position. I hope to be pleasantly surprised but on recent history chances are I won't be.

My rationale is that I know nothing about them so why would I needlessly jump to any conclusion either way? What is there to gain in that?

Your life must be super fun if your immediate verdict is that everything is shit until proven otherwise.
