Terrible takes.

We never bought him.

He looked reasonable for about a month in the best team in the Championship where he didn't have to do much defending, then he got bullied by Cameron Jerome, then he got absolutely beasted by Patrick fucking Agyemang, and then went back to Chelsea. A whole 10 games for us at that level, one of which was as a sub for about 5 minutes against Swansea, another sub appearance vs Sheff Utd, and those two where he was shite.

Awful beyond belief as a CH in the Premier League (his final game vs Blackburn was amazingly inept) and a horrible midfielder.
Fair play man. It must constantly annoy you the way stuff gets misremembered, like you are the only sane person in some kind of wolves fans old people's home

Pass it to Raul, Pass it to Raul, PASS IT TO RAUL - Then Adama thunders a shot against the crossbar against Burnley. Not a terrible take from 24000 but a terrible take from Mr A Traore. Not enough posts of late so maybe the mention of the lotioned up Adonis will get things moving.

Can't believe Del hasn't fessed up to calling the signing of Neto massively bent and writing him off as a Mendes ringer.

I wrote off Chris Iwelumo and Ryan Bennett as bags o'shite before they kicked a ball for us, Benno in particular as it felt like a shitey deal we'd signed up to when Champions Weague Paul was manager and we'd got landed with a clogging dud who'd never play.

Benno surprised most of us really. Seemed a pretty nothing signing at the time IIRC.

Oh I also backed us to come straight back up with ease* both of the two times we came down from the Premier League, if nothing else as we still had a load of the players who'd taken us up in the first place.

We were 19th and managerless by November the first time and well, we all know what happened in 2012/13.

Shall not be making that mistake if we drop this season (not least as the only players still here will be shite we can't give away and we'd have to trust Jeff Shi to find another manager in all likelihood).

*I also thought Solbakken was a really good idea

So, based on your previous takes, this one now represents my only hope.

Ståle seemed to at least have a cohesive vision for the club, it just flopped spectacularly. Much as he bears some blame, I still think the majority of it goes in the squad that season.

Speaking of, Sigurðarson had me so hyped. Woops.

He was hardly a world beater but Peszko getting knobbled by baldy Jonny Williams wrecked all our balance. We actually went top of the league in-play that night when we went 1-0 up.

Old old ground but Morgan and Moxey needed to go all in if they wanted to change direction, not leave him with half Mick's squad who couldn't/wouldn't play any other way.

Also not Stale's fault that Doyle had completely lost it and wasn't useful at any level any more.

Razak getting the world’s weirdest calf injury, too. Boukari, Peszko, and Sako in good health would have been all three very good at that level.

In hindsight, Slawomir deserves more credit for immediately telling Dean to get fucked (not that it helped us at the time).

You've written off many more than that. :)

Not just at Wolves.

I really liked Peszko, had a good attitude.

God that was a dismal day till the last few minutes. It was freezing, both teams were quite shit and frankly didn't look interested, it looked like they'd all been on a bender. It's the closest me and my lad have ever come to leaving early, it felt a quarter of the ground had.
Great scenes at the end and I got to take the piss out of a guy at work who heard the roar of the crowd half way back to the station.
Exactly how I remember it and especially having been to Oldham for the thrashing a few days earlier.

Yes he did.

It was brief, but he did.

The hype was ridiculous, and as you say he got bullied by anyone over 11 stone, but he looked classy and got called up to the full England squad (part of that hype)
Well we've worked out at best it was 6 games, not 20 :D

Paul Blades had more good games than that.

And David Wheater made an England squad once.
