Agreed. Way to early to be making assessments. Started well but so often teams do then drift down the table.
I guarantee if we were hovering around the bottom 3 there'd be plenty of assessments being made

Again, I think that is a fair comment. I would qualify it by saying that the games where we have played well show what we are capable of when we get it right. And we are clearly capable under Bruno of being a very decent team, indeed a top 6 team. What the poor performances show is that we don't have the strength of squad to produce those level of performances consistently, and there are still games where can look like a team that could be in the bottom 6.Just as it would have been unfair to draw too many conclusions after the defeat at Palace, lets not all go too crazy now after a very good win against West Ham either. But 6th is far better than i expected given such a dismal transfer window.
Definitely, think we will have a better idea after Christmas, if we're still doing well against the cack teams and those around us, plus scrape a few points from the big 3, then I'll think we're going inthe right direction.Just as it would have been unfair to draw too many conclusions after the defeat at Palace, lets not all go too crazy now after a very good win against West Ham either. Whilst he has broadly the same players it is inevitable that comparisons will be made. As he brings in new players the comparisons will switch to the players like they have with Sa.I'm getting a bit sick of the constant comparisons to Nuno's reign tbh - how long before we can just judge Bruno on his merits/shortcoming in isolation

Yeah i think that's true, also the form of Saiss, Coady and Kilman has really helped with this.Tbf I don't think lack of signings has hampered us so far, we've been lucky with injuries and bans.

Because maybe those people who were critical had no reasonable basis to be critical of his appointment other than they were pissed off at losing Nuno? Some people were overtly negative about Bruno from the very start and appeared very unwilling to give him a fair chance. Those that reacted like that have to accept a little bit of mea culpa, don't you think? He's getting praise at the moment and rightly so. Long may it continue.
I don't however understand the need to have digs at people who may have been critical of his appointment.

You don't think it's ok to be critical about the club appointing a manager with barely any experience and clearly a Mendes choice?Because maybe those people who were critical had no reasonable basis to be critical of his appointment other than they were pissed off at losing Nuno? There may well have been, that's their prerogative.
For the record, I like Lage, infact I was quite enthused when we appointed him having watched a bit of his Benfica side when they won the league with Felix as the fulcrum. However we've seen plenty of sides shoot off to a superb start and then fall away but very rarely the other way round.

Most things around Wolves are a Mendes choice, including the Nuno appointment. Was there the same unequivocal negativity around that? We clearly had people on here who saw his Benfica side telling us he was very good and he *could* be a good appointment. But still there a fair few who wrote him off before his team had even kicked a ball. You think that's a fair and reasonable criticism of him?You don't think it's ok to be critical about the club appointing a manager with barely any experience and clearly a Mendes choice?
I agree with this. I wasn't to keen on Bruno to begin with. I certainly think he has done better than i thought he would up to now.Just as it would have been unfair to draw too many conclusions after the defeat at Palace, lets not all go too crazy now after a very good win against West Ham either. He wasn't sackedLets forget Nuno for a minute. If last season you were compiling a list of who would be our next manager would Lage have appeared on it? He was displaying a record of one managerial appointment lasting 14 months where he was brilliant for a few months before it all went pear shaped and he was sacked.
I think criticism of the appointment was fair and as a poster who may have posted such reservations at the time I'm delighted he's doing well.
It's not my responsibility to know the pros and cons of every available manager is it? From the moment he came through the door he has shown himself to be a very thoughtful and considered man, and he clearly has demonstrated an ability to coach. None of that appeared to be taken into account, it was unequivocally stated by a number of people that he's a downgrade and we would be closer to relegation than we'd been in previous seasons. That seems remarkably unfair to me.Lets forget Nuno for a minute. If last season you were compiling a list of who would be our next manager would Lage have appeared on it? I stand corrected. He resigned after equalling the worst run in the clubs history. He wasn't sacked
