Great work from Captain Bairstow who batted on pointlessly for ages trying to get a century.

Didn't get his century and Essex escape with a draw.

Based on me watching some social media clips if Key continues to pick bowlers on traits rather than record then Che Simmons might get an Ashes call if the Windies don't come first. He's been here long enough to be English qualified I think

Livingstone left out of the white ball squads, that could well be him finished in international cricket.

Oh and Jamie Overton is still inexplicably in. Can't wait for him to average 7 with the bat and 60 with the ball.

Bairstow schlepping off to the IPL, seemingly forgetting that he's supposed to be Yorkshire's captain

Hameed is having a very good season

Ha, was just coming to post the same thing. Actually got them at a very decent rate yesterday too, I wonder if he’s got a way back into the Test side? I’m either way it’s nice to see him doing so well.

I'd be surprised if they went back to him, once you get dropped it largely seems they've made their mind up. But he can only go out there and score runs.

13 man squad vs Zim, I assume Cox and Potts will be the two to miss out with the XI being:

Crawley
Duckett
Pope
Root
Brook
Stokes
Smith
Atkinson
Tongue
Cook
Bashir

Apparently we've only played one home Test in the last 18 years where none of Anderson, Broad or Woakes have featured

Confirmed

This is far too easy for our openers I almost want a wicket so it makes the game interesting

Ton up for Duckett.

Will Stokes declare before close today ?

If there's ever a case for it then it's now. Only a 4 day Test (no adjustment of overs per day to compensate), possible iffy weather on Saturday, I'm not sure Zimbabwe will make 400+ in two innings anyway.

13,000 Test runs for Root.

Should catch Dravid (13,288), Kallis (13,289) and Ponting (13,378) in the next few weeks.

Scoring almost 500 in one day is ridiculous, Zimbabwe well below the required level.

We topped 500 not long ago! 2022 in Rawalpindi.

An exercise in giving 2 poor Test batsmen cheap runs to prolong their place in the team.

Pope is just weird, he now has a Test ton against 8 different countries. It's that he's the ultimate feast or famine man.

They're wedded to Crawley now and in fairness before he broke his finger last year, him and Duckett was comfortably our best opening partnership since Trescothick and Strauss, which is 20 years ago now.
