The Cricket Thread

Not now as he declared on 367. I’ll applaud him as in my opinion, getting it against one of the lesser nations in Zimbabwe wouldn’t have had the same gravitas.
To be fair in Lara's 400, Marcus Trescothick (Test average: 155) bowled 18 overs, Michael Vaughan (Test average: 93) bowled 13 and Gareth Batty (Test average: 61) bowled 52. Basically an entire day's worth of crap.

Archer for Tongue is the only change for the 3rd Test.

Carse who’s bowled 77 overs 5 for 315 in two games and is permanently hobbling keeps his place then.

Tbf Atkinson isn't fit and I don't want bloody Overton lumbering in.

There must be someone we could use instead!
Cook is the other bowler in the squad and it's basically him or Woakes (he also didn't do himself any favours vs Zimbabwe)

Dillan Pennington was around the edges of the team last summer but he seems to have dropped right off the radar

I assume we don’t fancy Josh Hull anymore either, not that he seemed remotely ready.

Don't think he's even fit, didn't play for Leics when I watched one of their T20s the other week

Root, Brook and Duckett all getting out to rancid deliveries down the leg side this series.

Pope lucky to not be out for another golden as well.

Old school day but enjoyable all the same

Honours even for me

Root 99* overnight (17 batsmen before have been 99* overnight in Test cricket and they've all managed to get at least another run the following day)

Lovely evening for it! I’m playing tomorrow and dreading how hot it’ll be!

Smith should demolish the record for runs scored by an English wicket keeper in a series. He is already into the 400’s and if I heard correctly on TMS, the record is 465 held by Alec Stewart.
