Not really a Pope fan, but if stats are used to justify Bethells inclusion then a First Class average of 28 and never having scored a hundred is definitely a brave pick.
I think he will play further for England (and soon) but his numbers don’t help. I get that England very much now pick on gut feel though.
Shows the lack of a good opener and number three anywhere else though.

Think Bazball is slowly evolving. There was a bit more thought going into the first match of the series. Edgbaston we were just outplayed and this match was the opposite of Basball imo.
