The Cricket Thread

Geraint Jones slogging one straight up in the air was maddening. Thought we'd had it then.

Jamie Overton effectively calls time on his short test career by taking an indefinite break from it to concentrate on white ball cricket.

SA win the toss and bowl first at Headingley

England: Jamie Smith, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Harry Brook (c), Jos Buttler (wk), Jacob Bethell, Will Jacks, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Sonny Baker.

South Africa: Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton (wk), Temba Bavuma (c), Tony de Zorzi, Tristan Stubbs, Dewald Brevis, Wiaan Mulder, Corbin Bosch, Keshav Maharaj, Nandre Burger, Lungi Ngidi.

Brook has bags of talent, but needs to make better choices to make the most of it.

These players NEVER playing 50 over cricket continues to come home to roost.

RavBop turns back the clock with a 46 ball 105 not out for Northants vs Surrey in the T20 blast quarter final.

SA ticking along nicely at 212-3 after 38 overs.

I don't think I would win much by betting that England won't find it quite as easy in the second innings.

"Sir, our bits and pieces bowlers are going round the park, look nowhere near international standard and can't take wickets"

"I see. Call up Sam Curran"

Curran's last 7 ODIs:

4-0-46-0
9.5-0-98-0
7-0-33-3
4-0-22-0
2-0-13-0
3-0-17-0
3-0-23-0

3 wickets @ 84.00 (Econ 7.67)

His last 11 T20Is:

2-0-13-0
3-0-25-0
3-0-29-0
2-0-23-2
2-0-25-1
3-0-37-1
2-0-35-1
3-0-31-0
3-1-20-0
3-0-24-0
3-0-41-0

5 wickets @ 60.60 (Econ 10.44)

Englands bowling attack across all formats is one of the worst I’ve ever seen, certain players getting caps who wouldn’t even have been close 6-7 ago

Another round of September county championship games ending in rain affected draws. Worcestershire looking likely to be the only team capable of losing...
