That three year deal for Ocon isn't looking very smart. Absolutely battered.

Fucking shambolic driving from Vettel. Should be put to the back for that.

That is an absolutely staggering performance, Lando Norris. What a talent.

Hamilton made a right mess of this. Done an extra pit stop and still losing time. Must have done some extensive aero damage going wide over that curb under no pressure.

All very odd from Mercedes. Lando did a fantastic job, gutted Russell just missed out on 10th too - deserved it this weekend.

Think the penalties were a bit harsh, certainly the first one against Norris but then that set at precedent for the rest of the race.

They were all harsh. No idea what the stewards were smoking this weekend. It's not up to the driver on the inside to change to a narrower racing line if the guy decides to try and go all the way round the outside. None of them actually pushed anyone off the road.

The first one was just poor driving from Perez in my eyes, too impatient and ended up tumbling down the field instead of just easing off and going at Norris again in a few corners time. After that he just seemed determined to not be beat in that situation from the other side regardless of how many penalties he got. You'd think he'd have been a bit more savvy having seen what happened to Norris. Just racing incidents for me though, if the guy attacking hasn't got the sense to abandon the move when it's not working out then that's on them, but I guess with how difficult it is to overtake these days they have to do what they can to maximise opportunities.

So, Lando Norris mugged at Wembley

McLaren Racing can confirm that Lando Norris was involved in an incident, after the Euro 2020 final match at Wembley, during which the watch he was wearing was taken.

Thankfully, Lando was unharmed but he is understandably shaken. The team is supporting Lando and we are sure that racing fans will join us in wishing him all the best for the British Grand Prix this weekend.

As this is now a police matter we cannot comment further.

This is immaterial really isn't it. Norris could afford to pay 10x that for a watch without putting a dent in his bank balance but in all likelihood it was a freebie for a sponsor anyway that will probably be replaced as quickly as it was taken. The bigger impact will potentially be the experience of the incident itself.

He was the game as a guest of one Mclarens Sponsors, so the watch he was wearing was one of those he has to wear when on McLaren duty.
As Mark says, the incident rather than what they took is the impact.

So this weekend at Silverstone is the first of the new format.

Sprint Qualifying will be a race run over 100km and lasting around 25-30 minutes. It is designed to provide a short and fast-paced racing spectacle – similar to a Twenty20 cricket match – with drivers racing flat-out from start to finish without the need to pit.

Points will be awarded to the top three finishers, three for the winner down to one point for third. There won’t be a podium ceremony, as that honour will remain the privilege of the top three in Sunday’s Grand Prix, however the winner will get a trophy in Parc Ferme, presented in a similar manner to the tyre the pole-sitter currently from F1’s tyre supplier Pirelli after qualifying now.

The finishing order of the race will define the grid for Sunday’s showpiece event – the Grand Prix, where the traditional format will remain unchanged.

Another snippet of info for Friday's standard qualifying session.

"The tyre rules will change for this session, with only soft tyres permitted throughout. As a result, teams and drivers will be free to start Sunday’s race on any compound, rather than having to run the tyre they qualify on in Q2."

Not sure why that is. I'd have thought they would still qualify as normal on Friday, with the Q2 tyre the one they start the race on, then use the soft sets for the Sprint Quali.

Looking at the 2022 car launch of a sample before the teams can get to work it’s …interesting. Looks smaller. Really not sure about the rear wing and the front wing end plates are massive.
