As per @jd1981 suggestion haha, which are your personal top 5 in this category? Again, very hard for me but I will go with the following:

1-Billy Joel
2-Johnny Cash
3-George Strait
4-Bob Dylan
5-Lou Reed

Elvis,
James brown,
Nick Drake
Prince
Tom jones

Elton John
David Bowie
Jimi Hendrix
Michael Jackson
Van Morrison

Paul Simon
Elton John
Bowie
Elvis
Shirley Bassey

Not sure if Springsteen counts as solo as he's pretty much worked with most of the same band for years.

David Bowie
Stevie Wonder
Jimi Hendrix
Marvin Gaye
Barry White

Again honourable mentions to Elvis, Elton John, Ray Charles, George Benson, Dusty Springfield, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin.

David bowie
Elton nohn
Billy joel
LeOnard cohen
Bob dylan

I’m not really one for solo artists. I just went through my Spotify library and the only ones on there are Ben Kweller, Charlotte Hatherley, Jenny Lewis, PJ Harvey & Ryan Adams. I also think Bully (no, not that Bully) is a solo artist rather than a band.

Could digress to top female Solo artist

Billy Joel.
A lad at work burnt me a CD of 'The Best of Billy Joel' years ago.
I was working in Northern Ireland at the time but living in the south. I had it in in the car driving home and suddenly came to my senses.
I thought 'what the fuck am I listening to this shit for?'
Ejected the CD, wound the window down and deposited onto the central reservation at 70mph. 😆
'The first 'white man' signed to Motown'. 😬
Apologies for littering.

Paul Heaton
Noel Gallagher
Kylie
Sam Fender
Johnny Marr

I'd have Morrissey in there but he and I have a very complicated relationship these days.

Labi Siffre
Cat Stevens,
Jeff Buckley,
Kd Lang,

No particular order...

Tina Turner
Billy Joel
Paul Weller
Michael Jackson (despite ? over him)
Elvis Costello

Bruce Springsteen
Mike Oldfield
Elvis Presley (earlier the better)
Thea Gilmore
Neil Sedaka (70`s stuff mainly)
