Wath Wanderers - the first ever football academy?

Ken Knighton was one of the 100+ Wath Wanderers to go on to play at an elite leve.
Ken will be included in the story of Mark Crook's football factory - "Feeding the Wolves". All for charity.

Didn’t know about Wath Wanderers before. It’s wild they were running a football academy all the way back in the 1920s, and for so long too. Crazy how they managed to feed players to Wolves even from 90 miles away.

His scouting network diverted the best talent to Molineux for decades - right under the noses of the Sheffield clubs, Rotherham & Barnsley.
If you know of anyone in & around South Yorkshire that would enjoy the unveiling (plus maybe a few Wolves ex-pros) share this : tinyurl.com/crookwwfc

Mark Crook provided Wolves with 39 players that played for the first team. Another 35 signed on as a youth but made their elite level debut elsewhere. Most would have gone to a northern team without Crook steering them towards his beloved Wolves.
These are the first teamers (minus the 12 that only played in the War League)...
