Welcome Jose Sa

Both barely played in fairness, I'm only talking proper #1s

De Vries was better than Ikeme anyway (very low bar)

Paul Jones polluted it for most of 2004 but I am choosing to ignore him today.
14 League games for Dorus & 29 for Stefan according to wiki. Just enough to have left me with a healthy dislike of dodgy Dutch goalkeepers.

Doris only played 10 of those because Saunders annoyed Concrete Boots Carl enough to punch metal, in fairness.

Doris once walked past me on Waterloo Road, after we'd drawn 2-2 with Champions League winner Paul Lambert's Norwich. For a keeper he was tiny, not much taller than me and no bulk to him.

Edit: Wiki reckons he's 6'1''. Not a hope! 5'11'' at most.

For a keeper Stefan let far too much in at his back post...

I’m obviously not suggesting we have Bentley anywhere near No.1 (or number 21, for that matter) - nor am I suggesting we do worse.

With the inevitable £20-25m we’d get for Sa (especially if he goes to Saudi) we’d get a miles better alternative and an extra few quid to paint the South Bank, too.

Win, win.
You seen the price of paint these days? Need Neto sold at full value for Jeff to cover that bill

I'd not have the Vardy pen on there as it's a really poor pen, Sa has had some really good games this season after the dreadful start though and overall feel like I have been pleased with him more than I haven't, however that has been clouded by my disdain for the other keeper when he played.

Think it'll be very concerning if Sa is sold. Just don't trust our recruitment team to bring in someone better.

Like Semedo, we have to try and improve the squad to assist how the manager wants to play. Our recruitment broadly is OK, not great, but OK, it's the strategy that's often the issue - appreciate Johnstone isn't a good example of that. Sa is alright, decent to good shot stopper, awful with his feet and still susceptible to one of his Saisms. It's not the first position which needs improving, but we need a new goalkeeper whether that's a starter or a number 2

If Sa was one of 1 or 2 first team exits I'd be more confident.

But worst case we are losing Cunha, Sarabia, Semedo, RAN, (Guedes) and Sa. That is so much churn!

I wouldn't be looking to do anything with Sa (unless he's actively pushing for a move), mainly because Johnstone will go & he's our current 2nd choice keeper, so we already need a replacement for him. Bentley is ok as third choice, in that we should never actively be playing him in the PL - so he's third choice and that's it. If you lose Sa AND Johnstone, we suddenly need to recruit 2 x first team Premier League goalkeepers - and I don't trust the recruitment team to get that right. That's before you look at the potential 6-8 new signings we need across the rest of the squad.

I don't think Sa is perfect - but he's been generally ok under Vitor and I think we have other pressing needs to address without creating another problem for ourselves.

Sá is genuinely awful with the ball. It really affects us. One of the main differences between us and Brighton a few weeks ago was their ability to play through our press because they could trust their keeper and our inability to play through theirs because we couldn't trust Sá. I still haven't forgiven him for wading into the South Bank earlier in the season. I'm not a fan of the way our fans react when we try to pass the ball in our own third either but I reckon they'd be a hell of a lot calmer if we had a keeper who looked even remotely in control of the situation when he's asked to play.

His fundamentals are okay, he can pull off the occasional World Class reaction save and he hasn't been consistently dropping massive clangers for a while now but we've seen this kind of form from him before. Don't be fooled, the next fuck up is always just around the corner. I mean you could create a lowlights reel of absolute nonsense from him from this season alone and while I get that most of it came under O'Neil when the whole team seemed to have no idea what was going on, he's still been at fault for some proper stinkers. An important part of by far the worst set piece defence in Premier League history as well by the way.

He will also randomly miss games out of nowhere. It's totally weird for a keeper and we can't afford for that to continue.

Then there's his commitment. Does he want to be here? He seems to be on the verge of moving every window.

Personally I think he gets away with murder from our fan base and if he left in the summer for a reasonable fee I'd be happy to see him go. He's easily replaced. There are lots of good goalkeepers out there.

This is only bit I disagree with, I think the general standard of goalkeeping is as poor as it's ever been. Mostly because of wanting keepers to be good footballers and good keepers who dominate their box, the two are physiologically incompatible other than in rare cases.

Big issue at home to West Ham too. Toti got in several tangles with the ball at his feet and that's on him, but the root cause is that none of the defenders trust Sa enough to regularly pass him the ball.

I don't think I've ever seen a Wolves keeper with such a massive floor to ceiling difference. He has had some very good games at the very highest domestic level, but he's also let in some of the most ludicrous goals imaginable and his habit of charging out and conceding penalties is terrible.
