Where will Wolves finish 2023/4?

What will the final league position be?

There’s a lot of distinctly average teams in this league now, us included. I don’t think anyone who finished in the bottom half last season should be too confident

Just noticed McNulty at the BBC has us going down in 18th.

Been a few seasons since we were among the relegation favourites with so many pundits?
Don't they call him McNumpty? Forever writing articles about Man Utd, and these predictions are at best guesswork. Usually wrong.

That said, we could well go down and it would be of our own making.

Well if it's not Wolves then the 4 teams mentioned most on here were Forest, Everton, Sheff U and Luton. 4 losses from 4 so something to be happy about.

On their pod Lineker had us going, Shearer and Richards in a scrap but staying up

Thought Forest looked okay today against a quality Arsenal team. Think they'll have enough about them to be safe come the end of the season if they keep their manager and key players fit.

The point wasn't how accurate he or any of them are, more that we look moderately fucked to pundits and neutrals

Fair point. Just not a McNulty fan. Stealing a living as chief sports writer.

Has the team regressed? Yes
Has the coaching regressed? Yes

All the hallmarks of 'doing a Leicester'.

Has the team regressed though? Essentially the same team as last year but with the addition of two strikers in place of the ghosts who tried to fill that role last season.

Leicester's struggles were down to three main things:

- Massive downgrade from Schmeichel to Ward (and Brodge kept picking him)

- Faes being an absolute disaster zone every week (and Brodge kept picking him)

- Vardy falling off a cliff (and Brodge kept picking him)

Not sure how analogous it is to us tbf

He isn't.

We adequately replaced Neves and Moutinho in terms of numbers though.
you can't compare them tho.

Neves is range of passing is better.
Gomez is more mobile, quicker, better tackler

Tielemans checked out too, unlike Neves who was at it till the very end.

You can argue that they didn't have any funds to refresh the team in the summer and address those issues.

We spent a lot in January though so not sure it's quite as comparable.

Is the first XI better than that which we had available August- December last season? I think it’s a definite yes.

Would anyone prefer Costa, Raul, Moutinho, Collins in the line up, honestly?

They only bought Faes last year. Rivals Guedes for worst signing of the season.

Brodge had other forwards that he signed (Daka was expensive) and he chose not to use them.

I suppose I'd rather have Moutinho than Hodge as CM #4 out of 4 and I'd rather have Collins than no-one, as three CHs for two spots isn't enough.

But I do agree.

Plus Bueno has gone from Academy kid a year ago to first team player.

The headlines are we were in a relegation battle for most of last season and would definitely have gone down if we hadn't employed Lopetegui.

We've sold our best player, 95% of this board would agree with that statement and 100% of neutral observers

We've sold a number of other players, which on the outside looks like a fire sale

We haven't signed anyone, please spare me the semantics

Our manager walked a few days before the start of the season, a sure fire sign of a club in turmoil

He was replaced by what anyone would see without hyperbole as a downgrade.

We aren't expected to add to the squad in any significant sense.

Dyche is a savvy manager with a track record of keeping teams up, not my thoughts just the general media concensus

You put all that together and you are probably putting us in the bottom 3, nobody is spending a significant period of time analysing these predictions
