Wolves History Thread

Two views from Nursery street in 1980. The top one is looking down Nursery street to the recently built John Ireland stand, with its offices occupied at that time by the Polytechnic. The lower one is looking down to Birchfield street and the Red Cross street school. Nursery street and Camp street are now lined with University buildings.

I was stood next to Sir Jack that day. Was fantastic, though he did get a bit arsey about people asking for his autograph
I appeared on MOTD in 2003 outside Ewood Park getting his autograph ahead of our first ever PL game (which we lost 5-1)

Saw a VE Day trailer on Sky earlier (why you would want to "celebrate" it I don't know) but as it's 80 years ago, reminds me that our home leg playoff vs Bolton was also the 50th anniversary of VE Day, so 30 years ago this coming Thursday.

1) Where has 30 (THIRTY) years gone

2) They aren't actually particularly good saves by Shilton, contrary to widespread memory. I would expect any halfway reasonable keeper to make them. We were just ludicrously wasteful. In fact he's shite on both our goals

3) Ludicrous shank by McAteer going in, why was Stowell always so far off his bloody line when they had a shot from range though

4) Mark Rankine actually played well in this game. The first in a long series of 1 game

FORMER Wolves star Colin Booth has died at the age of 90.
The former striker won two Division One titles with the club in the 1950s.
