And since when is it only a foul if the player goes to ground?
Just read the article, didn't think my opinion of Crooks could get any lower, but there it is...

I don't think there was any simulation or looking to the ref first. He got caught enough on the shin for it to hurt and he looked up to the ref as he grimaced and went down. It's not like he deliberately waited.
Stepped through the challenge, looked at the ref, did a forward roll.

That's not a natural reaction to that contact.

A strong start to the season from Garth Crooks.

1) I'm not sure Paul Pogba did "literally cut Leeds to ribbons". I probably would have noticed that yesterday afternoon

2) I'm all for not writing off football history wholescale and pandering to the kidz, but Bobby Charlton left Man Utd 48 years ago. You may have noticed that Man Utd have had some quite good players since then that anyone who grew up with a colour TV might have seen. I'm not sure Garth quite has his finger on the pulse
'Simon Bates is a big fan of the show, and he certainly has his finger on the knob of youth.'

Why the fuck does it matter if a player goes down late or at all when determining a foul.. especially with var, Dean 'missed' it somehow but its clear from the replays Neves got to the ball first and Pogbas studs clattered into his shin.

I think such a blatantly unnatural reaction as Neves' goes against you, regardless of contact, because you see that automatically know something isn't as it appears. If he played for the foul from the off and thrown himself straight up in the air then it looks like a more faithful reaction.

Neves' false reaction instantly prompts thoughts that the whole thing is false.

So the fact that Pogba goes over the ball, studs up, into Neves' shin is irrelevant because he doesn't fall over quickly enough?
Even though that is clearly defined as a foul?

Things get missed, if you don't see the contact at first glance but you see that hammy reaction then you wouldn't be thinking Neves was genuinely felled would you?

VAR has no such excuse though.

Has a referee ever awarded a foul and punished simulation for the same event? It's something that happens a lot when there is a foul but it's made to look so much worse by an over the top reaction. Be nice to see both parties punished in some instances.

Exactly. How Neves reacts is irrelevant. You either enforce the rules correctly or you don't.

just seems a bit “ i know best” on Twitter could be completely wrong

Only had one interaction with him on Twitter and I was blocked.

He Did the classic “I know something but I’m not going to tell you all” with regards to MGW and Boly. He Said he’s lucky to still have a contract after it. I said the rumour was bollocks as MGW was in the squad the week after an I got blocked…

Is Steve Plant a bit of an arse?
Comes across as a condescending dick on Twitter. A bit like that bellend who writes that insufferable blog.

Not sure what he's actually like in the flesh.

"I don't think the Leeds fans appreciate that's a bad injury to a promising player"

I can assure you Martin, that the majority of Leeds fans won't give a shit.

Never interacted with him but have seen his interactions with others when they don’t agree with him.
As I said never met so could be completely wrong.

Yeah, he talks to people who disagree with him like shit, and it's rarely provoked.
