Ever changing face of Wolves

Hah the King Charles was my nan’s local (lived on Cromwell Road) growing up, went in there a fair few times if we were staying there and going somewhere local. As a southerner I always felt it was like walking onto the set of Shameless.

Used to play football against Staffs Vol, massive bunch of cunts, even the women that came along to watch them were more fearsome than any other team in the league.

What league did they play in? And if you wanted to see intimidation by relatives/spectators The Tiberton Arms in Tipton was the place to go .Horrendous.

Ha. I was just about to post that played darts at the King Charles a few times and it always reminded me of Shameless. Remember it having a clothes rail behind the bar selling knock-off designer polo shirts.

More missing bits of Bushbury since I was a kid. Bushbury Engine Shed, Manleys Wire across the road, the baths, the vicarage at the top of Sandy Lane opposite the baths, they used to have a fete there every year. The police houses at the bottom of Sandy Lane, I think they are private houses now. Bushbury Hill itself has changed dramatically [for the better] from when I was a kid. At that time it riddled with small quarries that were being used by the council as a municipal trash dump. We used to go up there grubbing around in the rubbish for cigarette packets to add to our collections. Some good pickings there were too.

Bushbury probably needs a thread all of it's own.

Nah, not a gin man, not good for a man with clinical depression :)

I wouldn't mind a jaunt out there at some point though, not in November/December.

I cycle past there all the time (usually on route to climb Six Ashes) but have never been in. Should probably give there wine a go at some point really!

It's nice there. It's got a lovely restaurant, a large shop that does all kind of posh food from independent vendors and about a dozen crafty-type shops. It's also got "Wild", a small zoo which is more famous for it's birds of prey flying off than anything else.

It's all good stuff but a bit pricey.

They got a right bargain off me years ago when I sold them my Jackson Kelly PS6. I was desperate for cash and couldn’t be arsed to go to Brum, they got a £700 guitar for £250. Nice profit margin there so I did my bit to keep them open. Bought my first ever amp from there as well, a Laney Linebacker. Worst amp I ever owned.

I was pleased to see on a recent visit to Wolverhampton the old cowboy out preaching. Some things never change.

Shame about one way. I got them to do services on all my guitars and they were bloody good. Did the Floyd and intonation on my ESP and it was like it had just come out of the custom shop. Immaculate work.

Eh? He died years ago.

Yeah, he's definitely not dead :icon_lol:

Unless he passed away during the night and has yet to be discovered.

Tent Man is dead.
