We head into a stretch of 6 games against sides in the bottom half, but with our scoring issues that's probably not the advantage it appears on paper. Time for 4 at the back for me, we won't be freescoring, but one extra attacker increases the chances. Jonny and Neto to start if they can do 50 mins, even if that means 2 subs effectively used up before kick off
------------------------Sa----‐‐-----------------
Jonny-----Coady-----Kilman-----RAN
-----------Neves-----Moutinho------
------------------Podence------------
-----Neto------Jimenez-------Hwang

Lot of pressure on Podence as with Palace's midfield 3 he'll need to come back and not be an out and out 10. The alternative is him playing instead of Hwang and Donck coming in, maybe even Cundle if that role is in him. Saiss misses out through no fault of his own.

Sniffers team for me too. Can't see us starting 4 at the back

Yep I'd go with Sniffer, I guess Neto, if he starts, will only last 45-55 minutes, so we'll need do most of our scoring early on.

Maybe Hwang and others will look more dangerous against tiring opponents - Silva certainly seems to.

Losing Semedo is going to have a massive effect on us if we continue to play 343/352. He is one of our main ball carriers in the system and Hoever is just nowhere near and neither is Jonny in that aspect. I think we probably need to be looking at either a change in formation or a big change in style as if we use the same style we have been we'll continually struggle to get out of our own 3rd.

Jonny won't be ready to start, and he won't switch to 4 at the back this late in the season, so you may as well just accept Hoever starting for the next couple of games until Jonny beds back in.

I agree that we won't change to a back 4. Our defensive shape is our biggest strength right now. I understand some supporters frustrations with it in an attacking sense and I agree to an extent but looking at it from Lage's point of view he'd be foolish to try and change it at this stage of the season, especially so soon after we went on a run of 19 points out of 24 and with a 'favourable' run coming up. It might not be sexy but we're going to finish higher up the table playing that way than if we rip it up and start again.

Hoever... Hoever is just simply not good enough. He's such an obvious weakness whenever he plays that it's hard to see what we saw in him when we spent £13M. Still young obviously but looking around the league there are a number of full backs of a similar age who are streets ahead of him.

Semedo is key to how we play with 3 at the back. With him out of the side I fear we'll struggle to get out from deep defensive positions

Jonny at his best is such a quality all round player that he could definitely make a huge impact on that side. He's probably not as good in possession as Nélson but better in defence and transition. In my mind a 'classic' Wolves goal under Nuno would be Jonny winning possession back high and passing to Neves/Moutinho to release Jota/Raúl on the break. A fully fit right hand side of Kilman, Jonny & Neto could be a huge strength of ours.

Obviously a lot rests on Jonny & Neto's fitness in that scenario.

We simply can't park Hoever up the pitch like we did at West Ham, even with Semedo teams were hitting us on the transition, but at least he got back quickly, it would be madness to do that again. If we play a 3 and Jonny can't play then we need to park him deeper and play RAN higher up, but he can't do his safe, checking back speciality he has to challenge the defence like Semedo does even though it mostly comes to nothing.

Still think whoever plays should be full back in a 4 and let others attack. Will also let Bruno look at his centre half options.

Think Jonny and Semedos styles are quite similar tbh, would say both are about the same in possession. Both get forward well and tend to move the ball back or sideways further up the field. Semedo is faster and more athletic, while Jonny is a better defender and more aware.
Neither go past defenders in the final 3rd very often and put a cross in.
Whatever, wish one or both were available.

This for me would be arguably our strongest team player for player (semedo in for Jonny if fit obv currently)

I wouldn’t mind at some stage (as I don’t think Neto will be starting yet, or most certainly not each of the 4 games this Podence in the hole with a front 2 of Raul and silva/hwang at some stage

Hoever's always looked like he'd be better as a wide CB than anything else to me, but pretty sure whenever he has played there he's also looked fairly rubbish.

Not strong or aggressive enough to play CB.

He just doesn’t look right when you see him out there. The way he holds himself he just looks like someone who knows they are way out their depth. Lacking any confidence or belief in themselves.

Like a 12 year old in the pouring rain on a Sunday who just doesn’t want to be there just standing there shoulders slumped.

Hoever is a right back and not much else and at Championship level at best.

Sniffer's team for me and as Lycan says RAN needs to be Semedo now which means Pod can be Pod on that side.

It's a lot of work for Mout/ Donk to cover that side.
