Quite. Unless the shortfall is made up by an additional tax band on £200k+ salaries, or equalising CGT with income tax then I'd rather the money just went on public services.

They've never got more than 62 (2005, under Kennedy), I can't see it.

Clegg actually lost seats in 2010 but ended up in coalition.
