just a shame they're only going after these companies for breach of contract - ie for not meeting a spec, rather than for the profiteering that was going on, presumably because the latter would of course implicate the reckless contracting that the then government should have been scrutinising rather than, at best, turning a blind eye to.

did you see ITV's programme on the Covid contracts - Follow the money? The scale of the profits made is unreal and must run into billions. I only caught bits of it but noted a comment from Randox at the end of the programme suggesting their gross profits during covid were broadly in line with previous years. I mean here's the first of their covid accounts next to the previous non-covid period. Gross profit margin up from 30% to 53% - is that "broadly in line"? and if you assume they repeated the previous period's turnover at 30% margin it would mean the incremental turnover (presumably all or largely all the covid contract) is making 66%. they're probably not even the worst example. and to think some people wet their pants over rayner's £40k tax error
