As a Fluminense fan, I have seen
Andre and Arias for years performing at the finest level at their positions.

This Pereira kept Andre on the bench and positioned Arias on the left side.

That is beyond my understanding.. completely inexplicable.

Arias is an average midfield on the left side but a dangerous players on the right side.

Funny though, over the years I saw other coaches experimenting with him on the left side.. it only worked for Colombia occasionally, and for a specific reason-
To mark De Paul against Argentina.

Other than that specific mission, Arias is way better as an offensive player at the right side of the pitch.

Interesting observations.

We all love Andre but I gather he and Viktor had crossed words in training.

Hm what an interesting coincidence in the last match against Everton.

John Arias finally played mostly on the right side in the first half, and the Wolves were the better team and finished 1x0…

Hm…

On the second half I saw a few moments when he was on the left side.. and Everton almost tied the match..

Maybe Victor Pereira should someday connect the dots…

Maybe use the data from the FIFA World Cup matches.. from his past history for Fluminense…3 years of data…

He was a bit better against Everton but I'm not convinced.

Doesn't have the speed or skill to beat a player that I thought he would have. So he might be better on the right, but still not offering enough.

Ok I hear you, we felt the same in 2021 when he came and struggled during his first weeks.

he is very low profile indeed. He will never make plastic, amazing plays,
but sometimes he will make precise crossings or passes and also mark as well as top wingers.

We say he is a player who makes a great rice and beans meal, which translates to your basic fish and chips in England

I checked again tonight…

a tough tie away against Tottenham.

Arias played almost the entire game this time, mostly on the right side.

He left the game on minute 92

The opponent scored on minute 94.

The Wolves almost won this match!

Anyway… I won’t keep writing here or
checking the Wolves matches.

I notice the coach finally understood that Arias must play on the right side.

In general, good things will happen when he is there… it’s a mystical, supernatural effect… not explained by science or football theory…

He played very well last night to be fair, a lot more encouraging.

His best performance in his time here was in the second half last night when he was central.

Yeah, I’d much rather him than Munetsi centrally if playing 433 again too

Thought Munetsi was quite valuable last night tbf to him. He is what he is. A spoiler. Played a big part in stifling spurs I felt
Exactly, when we are playing a team who are likely to have more of the ball and put us under pressure he's really useful.

When we are at home to a team we expect/hope to beat and we will have more posession, he definitely isn't.

Arias didn't look match fit when he arrived, he is getting up to speed game by game. Doing the full 90 mins now, which is good obvs.
