Go on then, what is the point? It’s not abstract stuff, he’s picking players we surely can’t play next year and it’s not experimenting with any new tactics. So he won’t decide to implement it next year.
André given more responsibility holding as Bellegarde got further forward, JSL sans Munetsi, Djiga’s first start in the PL, Guedes more or less showing no amount of second chances will make him work, a view into RG as Nélson’s replacement…

The entire point of experimenting or tinkering at this stage is to figure out what may or may not make sense to introduce in the offseason, it’s not “well we tried that and it sucked but oh well it’s what we’re doing”.

If VP is approaching this the right way, he can yet glean a lot about what to do over the summer both tactically and in terms of the personnel.

Whether or not Sarabia and Guedes were really part of it, who knows. I’d read it a bit as “what can JSL do when he’s in better form but linking with a much different profile from Munetsi”.

It’s a bit “live ammunition” training but there’s no training as valuable as the real thing, ay?

I know that prize money is, well, money, but I’m perfectly alright with using the stereotypical “on the beach” games to tinker with ideas we might try to implement more concretely over the summer.
Says someone who doesn’t pay £2k for three season tickets.
I’ll pay because I want to watch us but it would be nice if the price was halved.
The prize money difference between 13th and 17th is not far off ST revenue and one place isn’t too dissimilar to last seasons OTT hike.

We learnt nothing that anyone couldn’t have told you before the game.
