Dead

There was a poster on another forum called The Thread Killer... I'm the Forum Killer... only taken 10 months since joining for this forum to die... and I joined because the other Wolves forum I'm on is a) deader than this! And b) what's left on there is cunt central bar a couple of exceptions!

The forum isn’t dead, though! We can start saying it is when a matchday thread doesn’t involve @Jinky finding a new way to tell Jeff to go fuck himself.

Don't think the forum is dead yet, definitely a lull but hopefully it'll be on the up soon.
It's pity some regular posters have given up, maybe some of the newer people can step it up a bit?

Weirdly, I’ve always enjoyed the non-football chat in this forum more than the Wolves stuff and I think that side of it isn’t what it used to be.

I’ve never been mega prolific (most of my posts probably came in the PTG sub forum) but I do check the forum out everyday.

There are still plenty of good posters around but it doesn’t help that some of the people who made this such an entertaining and amusing forum in the past (Langers, Kenny, Machin, Boozad, SLA to name a few) no longer post much.

I only really post on the Wolves section of the forum so can’t really comment on the general chat side.

People won’t like it, but this is what happens when those with any sort of different opinion get chased around the forum for months (or years!), called names, have the laughing emoji slapped on nearly every post by the same people time & time again - and essentially are made to feel like their opinion is inferior. Or when fellow members of the forum try to police others posts. The place has become a bit of an echo chamber - and those that have gone through the above, but are thick skinned enough to still be kicking around, often end up in pointless, circular debates. There’s an awful lot of ‘attack the poster not the post’ these days, but actually, I think it’s been a problem for years.

The unfortunate thing is, a lot of those responsible for the above consider themselves untouchable - they find it unfathomable to consider that others may see things differently - and are often just allowed to do as they please. All while completely dismissing the commitment and hard yards that some of us have put in to supporting this club for years & years. I know this, because I’ve been on the end of this sort of stuff myself in very recent history. So here we are.

The general apathy surrounding the club absolutely does not help with the forum traffic. But until something changes with people’s attitudes towards others and their difference in opinions, I don’t see it improving much, even if the performances on the pitch do.

That’s my two cents, and I’m sure many will disagree. Maybe a few might agree. THAT’S THE JOY OF HAVING AN OPINION. Mad innit?

Ps - @Alan - while this forum exists and there’s air in my lungs, you can rely on me to always remind people how much of a prized pillock Jeff Shi is 😘

When I used to be a season ticket holder I virtually never engaged in the actual Wolves side of the forum. I was rarely online on game day and often found the discourse around Wolves pretty toxic and unnecessarily antagonistic. Most of my posts were in the other two sections of the forum as a result.

Now I don't attend I'm more inclined to actually chat Wolves than when I used to go, but it's definitely noticeable how quiet it's been recently (even with this being an international break) in all sections of the forum. The obvious toxic nature of the countries (and world's) political state means lots of folks who used to post in that forum no longer do. And if you look at the top 20 posters in the members section well over half either post rarely or no longer post at all.

And even in a thread discussing the issue of the forum dying on its arse, it’s like clockwork.

A perfect illustration of the issues I’ve mentioned in my post above.

I’m not getting dragged in to another pathetic argument because the issue and those responsible for them is clear for all to see, so I’ll step away from this thread now.

It’s a real shame to see what the forum has become.

Want to be clear that I mean to encourage it! I may not always agree with the extent, but it’s a pillar of the Across-the-Pond Matchday Experience. The day it stops is the day I begin to truly worry about you! 😆

Perhaps that's why I have a different view, I don't engage with the match day thread.

Can’t believe the downfall of this forum is because of emoji’s. Maybe we should ban them to bring it back.

Part of the problem is the proliferation of streams that are available now.

There are way more people with an opinion on the game that wouldn’t have had the same opportunity before.

This has created a divide and is only getting wider IMO.

You mean people who live a reasonable commute away and have probably not been to 20 games in 10 years?

I am currently an infrequent attendee and I'm very much aware my verdicts on the matches themselves therefore aren't worth the same as those who do go. They can't be.

I don't necessarily go along with that view, and I say that as someone who does go.

You only get to see incidents in real time and only from the angle where you are sited in the ground. You don't always see what's happening off the ball, don't track every minor fine detail and so on.

Watching a stream, official or not, you'll get to see the replays etc from every angle and so on so able to make a more informed decision and pass an opinion on whatever that may be?

What you won't get is a feel for the atmosphere... or lack there of...

Hmm, not sure I agree, obviously you get multiple replays and different angles of specific incidents but I feel I get a better overall 'feel' of the game and see more off the ball stuff.

I can't tell you about the number of times I've wrote a post to then not post it, saying to myself it's just not worth an endless cycle of needing to defend an opinion etc. That tells it's own story.

Hopefully you picked up mine was in support/agreement!

This is what I would agree with. I don’t think the atmosphere at the ground plays part at all. I think the whole general style of play and ebs and flows of the game are much more apparent when you are there live.

Which does not equate to people that cannot or will not be there as much as any lesser fans than those who do or can but I do think it creates a natural divide between those that go every week.

I think that has been apparent on this forum.

This, absolutely this.
