RoJo and Mario being captains are waaaaaaaaaay down the list of reasons we were shit at those times, IMO.

It had a huge impact in both instances.

RJ being given it and it being taken from Henry caused a load of resentment in the dressing room, along with his awful attitude and him not giving a shit, he was far from a leader at Wolves and that bled into the rest of the squad, we were greater than the sum of our parts in previous seasons with Henry, we certainly weren't with Johnson.

And do you not think Lemina's crying against Liverpool (?) and his antics at West Ham didn't have a significant impact on attitude compared to how calm and measured Semedo was in comparison?

Just a piece of cloth? It can be really important, particularly to a side battling against relegation as we will be next season.

If leadership didn't matter we wouldn't have coaches, conducters, directors, bosses etc etc. It's clearly a thing, and I don't think a group of sportsballers needing a leader among them is any different.

It's not to say, someone like Moutinho had no leadership abilities despite never having the captaincy over Neves.

Squad dynamics and how they get on with each are something we can't really know about unless stuff leaks or things look really bad body-language wise on the pitch for 90 minutes.

Seems to be a few staff behind the scenes are leaving the club. Was told yesterday that Russell Jones was leaving and it seems he may have confirmed that on LinkedIn today.

Guy who told me said that others have left and will be leaving and mainly due to unrealistic expectations set from Jeff. One specific thing i was told was something like they wanted over a million users of the Wolves App etc.. not sure whether that number was exaggerated to make the point but whatever the goal it was highly unrealistic.

We all know Jeff’s not very good at his job and is a massive prick but everything i’ve heard from inside that wasn’t public knowledge as such just further cements that.

Appreciate you sharing that. Significant and disruptive change. Not just reflective of, but in part responsible for the feeling of listlessness around the club this summer I imagine.

Leaders by nature will lead, whether they have an armband or not. The Graham souness ‘model pro’s in the dressing room’ springs to mind. But if you expect someone who isn’t a leader, to lead, then yeah, it can be catastrophic.

I wasn’t sold on semedo as captain just because I like a vocal player, and abit long in the tooth thinking back to your viera’s and Keane’. Aware the games changed now Ofcourse, and semedo clearly did a decent job.

I would’ve probably gone for Gomes myself,just hoping it doesn’t tip him over the edge when it comes to suspensions etc
