Perhaps this deserves it's own thread for the time being and can be merged in to one of the other ongoing threads at a later date.

It seems Helder may be missing for approx. 3 months due to ankle surgery. Not good.

Fully expect us to make a move for another winger from Mendes' client list now.

Hearing @Wolves have been dealt a massive blow after £13m Helder Costa was ruled out for 3 months after undergoing ankle surgery.

Damn, not good at all..we have plenty of good wingers but Helder is Helder..

Related to the injury that ruled him out towards the end of last season

FFS - shit news.

I don't think bringing in another winger is a pressing priority though - we've got Cav, Graham, Marshall, Ronan, Zyro (no idea on his fitness levels yet though).

It's a blow but get it sorted now and he'll be ready to go come October when there are still well over 30 games to be played.

Don't think we'll sign anyone else, we already have Marshall and Zyro to play on the right.

As Nuno is reported to favour 4-3-3 and we already have Ivan Cavaleiro, Jordan Graham, Ben Marshall and Michal Żyro, I don't think we'll be buying a winger just for the first couple of months of the season.

We do seem to have had a fair amount of players over the years who get injured and months later end up having an operation to fix it

Fucking hell Jinky - at least put "injury" in the thread title, you click-baiting Spiers wannabe. I thought he'd been bloody sold!

Spiers isn't even on it yet. Nash beat him.

I knew things were going too well.

Annoying that it is related to last seasons injury but he didn't have the surgery then but at least we should still have him for most of the season. Better than him being sold!

Remember Wardy's knee falling to bits and we kept him in the team?

Spiers is in the air on his way to Austria. He'll land to be greeted with news of this!

I think Marshall will be first choice RB when the season starts. Ofusu seems to be injured (as he hasn't travelled to Austria) and Iorfa could well be on his way, so it wouldn't surprise me to see Fosun bring someone else in.

Indeed. Why didn't they operate two months ago when the season ended?

Could be a whole host of reasons. He was running around in the open training session the other day, so perhaps this has only come to light in the last day or two?

He was however training on his own, so there must have been a concern.

Whole host of reasons - The main one will be probably be because the specialist they would have used to look at his scans didn't think it was needed

Probably see him back in first team action at the end of October, at least there will be no bids coming in for him in this window at least.

More than likely it will be Coady.

Ofusu was injured at the end of last season. When he signed he was just starting back, so is probably a couple of weeks behind everyone else and is staying behind to build up. Unless he has had a set back, he will feature when the games v Shrewsbur & Posh come around.

Can't see Marshall being at RB. That was a Lambert theory, I think it went when he went (and he didn't even seem that inclined to do it when he was here, he got 70 odd minutes vs Wigan there and a very brief spell towards the end of the Huddersfield game when he played about six positions in ten minutes while we made our subs, and that's it I think).

IF Ofosu-Ayeh is injured (we don't know) and Iorfa is away (we don't know) then I would say Coady or even Bennett would be way more likely to play at RB. I'd rather not go down either of those roads, but it's much more probable than us sticking a career winger there because a former manager did it while both were at another club for a while.
