Israel-Palestine

How tied to the government or government programs/funding are those performances? I wouldn’t have assumed all that much.

I know basically nothing about Eurovision aside from it gifting me that one Daði Freyr bop.

Stick to swapping International conspiracy theories with the other weirdo on the Boris thread
Jeez mate. You don't half get wound up easily... as you have done with at least three different people over the last ten days or so. Or, are you just unaware of what goes on in the world and get easily manipulated.
Perhaps you might consider being more respectful to those of us who quite clearly have wider and deeper experience of international affairs and are therefore more aware of how the world works in certain circles.
Cheer up! :):)

Not an answer to your question but look up the Carnation Revolution. The playing of the Portuguese Eurovision song 'E depois do adeus' on local radio stations was the signal for rebels to overthrow the longest reigning fascist government in history.

Or My Lovely Horse by F. Ted and F Dougal from Ireland

No actual reason other than a distraction from the realities of life...

Those pesky Jews and their space lasers, no doubt.

I don't think the accusation is that Israel manipulated things to achieve their score, more the fact that there was a campaign of 'support' from people with no interest in the show. The 20 votes per phone thing needs looking at tbf, from a scoring perspective it's insane and massively skews things. Feels like the wrong thread for something with so little importance compared to how the situation in Gaza has developed over the last week

I am more concerned about the pesky Israelis with their sniper rifles, bombs and their reluctance to let aid through to prevent a famine to be honest.
Sure, all of which has nothing to do with a song contest.

Eurovision has famously never had any political aspects to its voting in the past, right?

Agree 100% with your last sentence.

eg, Were there demands for investigations and audits when Ukraine won, largely from a sympathy vote in the wake of the Russian invasion?
