Keir Starmer at it again..

Mandelson sacked.

Having previously been dismissed twice from Government due to questionable activities he has been relieved of his duties due to more of the same.
Not for the first time it’s terrible judgement from the PM to appoint him in the first place and then to spend a day backing him when his position was obviously untenable.

Not really - the first time was a fairly niche point around reporting a loan from a friend, and the second time he was exonerated (post resignation).

By the standards of subsequent administrations these werent resigning matters.

The likes of Farage etc must be just laughing their arses off at the mess labour are making of government.

How long has is been in the public realm that Mandelson and Epstein were chums?
A long time. The pertinent point is were they chums once Epsteins crimes were revealed - which im not 100% sure on. Mandelson seemed to claim that he wasnt sufficiently aware of the severity of Epsteins offences. Which seems unlikely at best.

He was always just a very strange appointment, belongs to a totally different era. It'd be like a Premier League club hiring Kevin Keegan or Joe Royle this season.

There's a few of them around though, Pat McFadden is treated as some guru it seems.

Starmer is embarrassing.
In just one day he managed to give full backing to the best mate of the worlds most notorious paedo, tweet out a eulogy to a far right American youtuber and host the PM of a country committing the genocide we’ve supported. Fair play.

Lots of online chat now about when he gets ousted, rather than if.

He definitely won't last past the local elections next year as it looks like it will be particularly damaging but where is his successor? It is obviously Andy Burnham who will need to get himself into Parliament sooner rather than later...but i don't see anyone who is going to be able to sort out this train wreck of self inflicted harm before the next GE.

Burnham is probably the only candidate capable. The public would like him but it will also need a big lurch left policy wise to see off Farage in time for 2029.

I’d take Burnham but he’s a proper opportunist - he’s literally the guy who closed our local hospital and was somewhere to the right of Tony Blair back then.

He claims he's 'been on a journey' since then. Could be lying of course.

The obvious problem with this cunning plan is "Burnham to become an MP" - popular as he is in those parts, he would be the Labour candidate. If Burnham wasn't elected, game is up for Labour.

Also, Burnham has been on maneuvers since 2015. He's always there to tell the membership what they want to hear. He was an arch Blairite, then when Jezza was in power he became the worlds biggest socialist.

Ive seen puddles with greater depth.
