Live Match Discussion 2024/25

Welcome back to England Kevin.

Hope they get stuffed every time he plays

And obviously Robbie Keane, Berbatov, Bale...even Freddy Kanoute, they've had a lot of fun, flair players.

Except Gary Doherty.
I associate The Berb more with Fulham for some reason; great shout tho. The others, aside from Bale, were before my time.

Not everyone’s cup of tea but I always enjoyed watching them when floppy chops was Manager.

First time I saw Lampard and realised he was a player
Even though we beat Chelsea at Molineux, first time I saw Lampard and Terry live I hadn’t realised how good they were, sheer class despite not being at their best.

Terry's passing ability was a genuine surprise.

In fact, generally that season I was surprised many times by how good so many players were live.

Edu in that 3-1 home defeat was outrageously good, for example. A player I had no real opinion of prior to it.

Think Terry was always underrated as a footballer because his defending style was very blood and thunder at times but he could play, pretty comfortable with either foot too from memory. Still my favourite defender despite being a dick.

Think the player that caught me out more than any other when watching them live though was Dembele when he was at Fulham, don't think he even broke out of a gentle stroll.

I'm still not sure I've seen a better footballer in the flesh than Modric. And he's still going now 15 years after I first saw him play against Wolves.

Mainoo just sauntering back allowing his man to get free hit on goal really lazy stuff

They're basically Bruno Lage's Wolves, for 100x the cost.
The volume of absolute nothing players they sign for huge money under various different managers and setups is wild. Who was their last genuinely successful transfer? Fernandes? Casemiro did a lot better than expected for that first season I guess. Doesn't seem to matter whether they go for experienced players, unearthing hidden gems or finding the next big thing before they breakout - they all turn out to be wank.

How do United keep being so wank?
Recruitment. Players they've signed in the past think that pulling on the jersey means they've 'arrived'.
I think Amorim might be getting a handle on it. Moyes possibly would have done if they'd accepted that they wouldn't win much for three or four years.

Johnny Evans. Consistent, reliable.
Says it all really.

Nice work Lino how many players were offside

Maguire a mile offside, where’s the fans against VAR fella.

Jammy bastards

They benefit so much from VAR. Tonight they benefit from no VAR.

I bloody hate them
