They should enjoy it whilst it lasts, they will be whipping boys for PSG in the next round.
Just seen a super slo-mo on TNT Twitter and the ball doesn’t deviate at all. As you say chances are there was contact but don’t think it can be proved of the ball doesn’t move.Does Alvarez kick it twice? Probably but not conclusive so can’t see how VAR should’ve interfered
Was hard to tell on that replay, didn't look like his standing foot slipped far enough to hit the ball before he struck it so can only assume that slid sort of followed through and he ended up essentially playing the ball back off his standing foot as he slipped.Just seen a super slo-mo on TNT Twitter and the ball doesn’t deviate at all. I couldn’t see it at the time but we only got one replay and McManaman said “ah he hits it twice” so assumed I’d just missed it. Clearly not though!
Yeah I’ve hunted another replay and the behind the goal shows him hitting of his left which is probably what makes it go so high. Normally in that scenario they get blazed over the bar so never an issue to analyse. Was hard to tell on that replay, didn't look like his standing foot slipped far enough to hit the ball before he struck it so can only assume that slid sort of followed through and he ended up essentially playing the ball back off his standing foot as he slipped.
