Live Match Discussion 2024/25

I find it hard to have any sympathy for City when despite their footballing talent, they're such a dirty shithousing team.
Yup... and I'm caught wondering what impact winning / losing will have on Palace on Tuesday.

Meh, Messi has missed loads, you still step up when you're the main man.

Big moments, big name, you take it.
Disagree. He’s clearly not great at pens. He takes them to stat pad like any striker. It’s never really mattered to the team before as they were winning comfortably. It should go to the best taker, whether that’s Marmoush I don’t know. De Bruyne and Silva seem safe bets

City have been awful on penalties for years. Gone through multiple takers, Mahrez, De Bruyne, Sterling, Gundogan and Haaland all guilty of missing them, nearly as bad as us in the 2000's.

We got in this stupid mess when Kenny Miller missed a couple in the early part of 2004/05 and Dave Jones took them off him. So went round a ridiculous round robin of takers where they'd keep missing.

Miller was our best taker and didn't want to stop taking them, we should have stuck with it. By the time Hoddle was in charge he was back taking them and didn't miss again for Wolves.

If Haaland genuinely didn't want to carry on then I'd say it's a bit weak mentally on him. If Pep has taken them off him then it's a managerial failure for me.

I agree with Rooney and Shearer here, I played miles and miles and miles down the pyramid but I always took pens, you're not taking them off me without a scrap.

Be interesting to see what happens when City get another one. I can see that happening in this final.

I'm glad they didn't send him off for the sake of the game. It's a clear red though and VAR shouldn't be thinking like that

Well yes, he’d have probably scored just because of the law of averages. But the same would have been for Marmoush too…

Stat padder!

You can understand that logic but they need to be honest about it. If Palace had gone down to 10, then their 19% possession would be even lower. I'm finding this tedious now. Quite boring.

LOL.... isn't it always the way? Done sweet fuck all and 2-0 up!

Edit... got to be offside.

This will be disallowed for Palace then*

*presuming VAR has woke up
