Live Match Discussion 2024/25

Brown scores the penalty and I'm far from convinced that we end up winning.

We weren't very good. Basically everything we hit in the first half went in and then we relied on having a goalkeeper who was far too good for that level. No football at all.

Was a very harsh penalty call though and a very crap penalty. I just think we were better in both boxes that day and still had a better quality side man for man.

I'm sure we'd have struggled if the penalty had gone in but from 3-0 up we didn't need to play football, we just needed to crawl over the line. I remember the crowd was very quiet in the second half until added time when people found their voices knowing even we were unlikely to concede three at that point.

If Sheffield United get to the play off final next season their fans will probably give it a miss! 8 losses is it or 9?

We could’ve been more effective on the counter attacking that second half.
Sheff Utd were just very huff and puff second half.

Michael Brown.

You can't watch that game back in the cold light of day and think we played well, we didn't.

We weren’t great but conversely I’m not having that Sheff Utd were better than us that day as they clearly weren’t.
As said they were just a bit huff and puff second half. You didn’t feel like we were about to be carved open at any point.
Their big moments was a harsh penalty, a deflection and a free kick.

I don't like any other professional side, just a sliding scale of indifference to significant dislike, Sunderland are in the indifference camp though

There aren't many clubs I actually like other than Wolves.

Sunderland are one of those clubs. Really pleased for them. I know a few Sunderland fans who will be on cloud nine tonight.
I imagine my soft spot for two of our rivals would have had zilch chance of happening if I’d known anything about the game prior to 2010.
