I'd eat Weatherspoons every time over McDonalds, dunno how they manage to make their burgers so tasteless, the only flavour is the spunk they put all over it and it's not a nice flavour. Tbh I'll choose an independent cafe/restaurant over either of them even if it is a bit more expensive.

It’s cheaper than McDonald’s by a margin and the burger resembles beef more than McDonald’s. I don’t hate McDonald’s either, it’s fine. The spunk, pickle, onion etc is actually delightful even if the burger itself is shit

I had a breakfast at an expensive golf course today. £10 for a very basic breakfast and it wasn't as good as the Trent Bridge Wetherspoons I had breakfast at last week. For the money you pay its better than most places.

I saw someone get a curry in a Wetherspoons once, honestly the actual state of it.

Having worked in Spoons for 6 months when I first moved to Leamington (to meet some people!) - I can confirm those curries are all microwaved.

The breakfasts were ok (in terms of value), but again - just frozen stuff thrown on a griddle or put in a microwave.

I’ll have a spoons breakfast at the airport before a flight, where the options are limited, but that’s about it these days.

They do have a good choice of beers and their prices aren’t beaten - but I’d rather go to a decent craft beer pub instead, as I’m a craft beer wanker.

I have both worked in a Wetherspoons (honestly, dreadful employers, basically zero hours contract before zero hours contracts were a thing) and been dragged to one far too often by the aforementioned Mr Darlo. It's a good job I like him.

The Moon in Wolverhampton is genuinely one of the worst pubs in the country and The Square Peg in Birmingham runs it very close.
