If they are - you need to sack Jeff Shi. Get a consultant in who knows the industry and structure the management and coaching team properly. Actually you don't even need to do that - just wind your mind back to 2017/18 and reimplement the structure we had then!

Would Lopetegui have cost less than Emery ?

If they were all set to appoint Lopetegui then that means they were prepared to pay him whatever the going rate was and provide him with the support he needed re new players etc .

Surely that means that we just transfer that pay and support to someone else ?

That's probably a lot closer to the truth than the previous one of it being family related .

Doesn't matter if it's Shi or some other Fosun guy dropped in to babysit the books, the football strategy is all Mendes' playbook. They're in thrall to him.

Shi will be doing more than just babysitting the books I would have thought, he'll have plenty of decision making autonomy to a certain level.

They're the sort of details that aren't considered when you've got an agent pulling the strings and setting the agenda. Sign the players and everything falls into place, or largely doesn't in reality.

Fosun have no knowledge how to do anything in this industry outside of what Mendes tells them, that's why there's such a mess.

€6m less to start with and Villa are paying Emery more than double what Lopetegui was on at Sevilla. He's also more likely to be accepting of the signings strategy given who his agent is

genuinely - what has nothing to do with Jeff? Are you saying that (for example) the current position with the (lack of) manager is nothing to do with Jeff?

The direction in which the bulk of our transfer spend goes. Even when you don't think it's Mendes like Sasa you eventually find out it is. They'll be the occasional signing like Collins that excludes him, but the meaty fees will always come though him. Jeff polices that policy he doesn't decide it, that comes from above. What can't happen is those players being duds, which for a variety of reasons this years 3 to the tune of 80+m all have been

As I said last week there is no point getting rid of him and replacing him with Jeff2, the way the club is structured from Chief Exec downwards needs tearing up, including the Mendes relationship. If we don't do that then all that's changing is the name. The best you'll get is not being patronised by a smug prick once a year if the new guy is more PR savvy.
