New - The things that really annoy you

Funnily enough, didn’t stop him walking round with a sock on his cock while making lewd comments, or perhaps he forgot he was autistic that day

Google Maps being the thickest piece of shit since Dean Saunders.

Thank you for making me walk 5 miles when it should have been 2 when I have no idea where I am, oh and it's 33 degrees. Lovely stuff.

Did you select drive directions instead of walk?

I have Aphantasia (no visual memory) so use google maps for pretty much all walking directions outside of places I go every week. It works well as long as you don’t enable navigation mode, just following the breadcrumbs works well and you can see if the route makes sense.

It always seems slow to react when I go wrong to me, probably user error.

Thank you for directing my ADD’s hyperfocus for the weekend.

I’ve actually found Apple Maps to be quite reliable for walking and public transit routing. For driving, though… years behind the competition!

Apple Maps is noticeably poorer outside the US. I don’t mind it for driving but I don’t see the point in it.

I’m not sure if it’s available over there, but I’ve been trying out Waze recently and it’s been great so far.

For at least 10 years if not longer. It’s basically google maps with a different UI these days.

I used to laugh at youngsters who had no geographical awareness who couldn’t go more than a few miles without using a satnav, but since moving to a new area and having to use a satnav to get anywhere you can see how it happens.

3 years in and can still barely find anywhere without navigation. You realise you just follow the screen and don’t pay any attention to names or landmarks, and that map you had in your head previously was only there because you learned it because you had to.

It’s probably just one of the byproducts of that sort of technology by it’s one that feels strangely unsettling.

Think you just lose some of the ability, Ive been trying to do without a sat nav when possible lately. When you use one constantly you lose an idea of where you in the geography of an area.

My regular route to the office in Leeds I can do without help but always have my sat nav on for the traffic situation.
What generally happens though is it will advise me of delays, I will tell it to fuck off and stop sending me via Oldham and ignore it so it might as well be off.

I have zero sense of direction so frequently rely on Google maps, I find it usually ok but any sort of tall buildings and it's f***ed!

I had an appointment out in Salford a few weeks back and decided to walk. I used it once to check I was heading in the right direction but otherwise I somehow managed to find my way there by osmosis and following the canal 😂

Waze is great because incidents and notable delays are updated in real time by other road users. So if you suddenly hit a big queue you can see pretty much immediately what is holding you up ahead of you.

I find Google maps for walking is fine if you are using regular town/city streets, but if you're using footpaths that are off the beaten track it can get confused easily and the lines can be all over the place.

What always staggers me with Google maps, is when you're on a straight road and you search for something, it's never proper obvious which way you should go. The amount of times I've walked 20 yards and been like "Oop, nope, t'other way" .

You'd think it should be 50/50, but it's definitely closer to 80/20

In the beer garden having a lovely time and got stung by a wasp. Annoyed me.

Wasps are essentially the WBA of the animal kingdom. Annoying, pointless stripey cunts.
