O'Neil aka GONe

He isn't doing okay again with Benfica. Their fans fucking hate him.
Some will but the ones I have spoken to in the last two weeks are very 50:50 about him. Most respect what he achieved last time and think he's doing an OK job this time. Others I spoke to didn't much like him at all.

I honestly don't care who you've spoken to in Orlando, Nigel.

Back in the real world in Wolverhampton, where I live, I paid good money to watch some of the worst football I have ever seen with footballers who had no business playing that brand of utter fucking rubbish.

Those "1-0 losses" were three fucking games and we weren't even that good. Leicester should have been 3-0 up at half time and we barely had a shot in the second half against Spurs. It's such a ridiculous fig leaf. I did not enjoy those games at all.

And we lost so nothing else matters.

How does this "more attacking style" translate to 2 goals in 8 games out of interest? Or going 1-0 down and the game is basically over because we won't score.

Or having three attacking players spread across the entire width of the pitch.

An appalling manager.
You hatred is clouding your judgement IMO. I thought we played some good football in those losses. I could bring up the league table where we finished 10th... and it should have been 8th. Not as bad as you are painting by any means.

However, I do agree about how he treated our players and bundled them out of the door. That was despicable.

Calm down, calm down. Smile and the world smiles with you.

No, I refuse to be calm about Bruno fucking Lage. He is a disgrace and us appointing him (after sacking our best manager since Stan Cullis) was an absolute scandal. Retaining him after losing 9 of his final 14 games in 2021/22 was even worse.

He's lucky that Dean Saunders exists.

Some recency bias there me feels. I loved Nuno, adored him but he didn't win anything like McGarry and Barnwell did. I know it's subjective and times have changed but if you are looking at trophies won, Nuno isn't at that level.

It was a different world back then. Trophies were spread out across far more teams. Now about 9/10 are won by four or five teams.

Well as I wasn't born until 1981 you'll have to forgive me on that one.

How dare you denigrate Nuno, honestly.
Now, if you had made the comment "best manager in my lifetime", I'd have no counter argument would I?

Indeed, Fully agreed but if we're having a discussion / argument about best managers since Cullis, we shouldn't ignore McGarry or Barnwell who actually won trophies.

I love how whenever there is debate about Bruno the best his defenders can do is ‘we played well in those 3 defeats’.

3 losses were the highlight of his time here.
I'm not defending the cunt. And I certainly did not just talk about those first three games. Look at the fucking league table. He did OK initially but then it all turned into a bucket of shit when he started treating those who served us so well so badly. I'm 100% with DW on that. I'm just arguing it wasn't as bad as DW points out for the whole of his tenure. It most certainly was in the latter stages and yes, he should have been sacked long before. Just as GON should have gone after Brentford.

Who’s ignoring them. If I could change two things in my time watching Wolves it would probably be no car crash for Barnwell and beating Bolton in the playoffs.

Which was the good bit of Lage out of interest?

Because we started with 4 defeats out of 5 (2 goals, one of them an own goal), then had that run of 2 goals in 8 games, then that other one of losing 9 out of 14, then we won 1 out of 9 in the following season.

The bits inbetween all of that of course.

Remember there was that brief spell where we were talked about as being in the shout for a European place...so that paints a different picture for some. Full focus on minor positive things.

Just like it did with GO, that collapsed quickly and he was only done over by our great big Adama giveaway.
