Spurs (A) 27/09/25 - Build up & Match day thread

Hugo Bueno is bloody awful, never gets anywhere near his opposite man. Just a stream of chances down that side, whoever he's against.

Hwang looking like a parks player again.

The rest have done alright, though Doherty will always give me kittens and that's a poor miss at the end.

Standard nonsense booking for Joao Gomes, I don't know what it is that makes referees trigger a card immediately for him.

Hwang for Rodrigo Gomes. Switch Arias to the left Gomes to the right.
Nah. Arias is completely ineffective on the left. Leave him on the right. Agree I’d like someone on for Hwang. Maybe Tolu and have the two big lads up top with Arias roaming.

Get Tolu onto one of these set pieces. I feel like it's the only way we can score in this game.

Arias is shit, I've seen enough. Industrious enough and his technique won't let anybody down but he's as much of a game changer as Stephen Ward.

We've definitely had moments where we look ok, some lovely progressions up the pitch, but largely we've looked like a team of triallists

We don’t have enough good players in forward areas to be a threat at this level. We’re a £30m forward short at the minimum. Instead we’ve got Hwang and Munetsi, and whilst Arias looks like a footballer, he’s an average one. But there’s a reason he was £15m and never left South America.

If we can’t start putting a few passes together this game is only heading one way.

I hate Doc but there is no way anyone should be expecting him to put that in.

The flick at the near post was a far better chance to score.
In our situation and the few chances we’ll get those chances need to go in.

Not sure how i feel. Think on the whole we’ve played well but clearly 2nd best.

Santi and Krejci both playing well to be fair. As are the midfield 3.

Great save by SJ but thought kudus was off, although I clearly don’t know the rules anymore as richarlison was offside at the end but because it got a touch of Andre it didn’t count

Half chance for doc at end, have to take those in this sort of game I feel.

Mentioned before, love the return of the long throw but the crowd the keeper on corner and never beat the first man can get in the bin!

Hwang with the Messi esq turn folllowed by Rodney trotter pass definitely brought a wry smile

Arias has been cut a lot of slack - new country, struggling team, no proper break - but the Emperor appears to be scantily clad.

I'd go lopez and bellegarde for hwang and munetsi.
Kreji is a very good player, santi doing well, but hugo is getting a proper shagging from kudus.

As a collective the first half has been OK. I think first 25 mins were decent, when they score the offside goal we are having a rough time in the aftermath but get back into the match. But we simply are not going to score, all of the attacking players have been rubbish. At some point Tottenham will score and that is game over. The yellows for some of the defence is a problem.

The gap between the sides is very evident, since promotion more often than not we’ve got to these types of grounds and not looked out of place.
We’ve fought hard and competing well but we look like a championship side that’s playing at a pl side in the cup.
