The Cricket Thread

I've lost touch a little with test cricket but that bowling line up does not look great

England: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue, Shoaib Bashir

India: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna

Bowling all over the place...nothing consistent. Stokes is on now and probing. Getting some movement but we're not pitching it up enough.

I thought India would get a shed load against this bowling attack and looks the case so far. No idea why we wanted to bowl though tbf, looks an absolute belter of a pitch.

Apparently yesterday there was a moisture rate of 80% in the pitch. It was expected to drop to around 20% today so I'm guessing they thought they could make use of that before it dries out completely. Not looking a great decision at the moment....and as I write that England get Rahul for 42. Poor shot.

just getting in from work, why the fucking he’ll did we choose to bowl first?

If the bowling attack is that bad then surely you bat first to try and apply scoreboard pressure.

Bowling first was the correct call, probably just a bad toss to win.

Going back to 2008, the side batting second at Headingley has won 11 times out of 14 Tests (Eng vs SA was a draw in 2012, England beat Sri Lanka batting first in 2016 and West Indies beat England batting first in 2017).

Going to be a long summer if this bowling is the best we’ve got.

Atkinson probably back for the next one and they're hinting that Archer will be too.

Can tell it’s coming up to the ashes when we are pinning everything on the return of a broken player.
