How many times in the past has day one started in that heat and with a pitch that looked very batting friendly? Yep by all means have history as one consideration but also look at many others.

Oh I agree. I was just pointing out that it exists, and therefore probably was in the thinking of both captains (don't forget India said they would have bowled too)

Yep wasn’t an outrageous call I just would’ve wanted to bat and apply scoreboard pressure on this pitch.

There’s a very good chance this happened if we bowled second too, but at least there could have been some scoreboard pressure applied first. Unfortunately this bowling attack isn’t going to do much against a good team on a good pitch.
