The Cricket Thread

Pitch is a bit of a road having said that I think both sides have bowled poorly line and lengths all very inconsistent.
Zimbabwe have batted pretty well and disposing the bad balls well.

Well, Bennett batted well.

He scored 139, there were 10 extras and everyone else contributed 116 between them.

There’s another Curran I’m assuming he’s brother to Sam and Tom?

Yep, older than Sam, younger than Tom. Played for Northants for a bit before throwing his hat in with Zim.

I think Tom could actually play for Zim fairly soon if he wanted as he hasn't played for England in almost four years. Would have to go down as an overseas player for Surrey but he only really plays T20 for them now.

Probably where both his brothers should’ve played their international cricket.
Harsh on Bennett being out twice in a day is probably just knackered more than anything.
I think you’ll be able to watch the cricket and football tomorrow without missing any action in either game.

9-143 for Bashir in the match

Sam Cook could be one and done

Zimbabwe destroyed any chance of having a competitive match on day 1 with some very erratic bowling. They did alright with the bat but they should’ve on that pitch with ball not doing massive amounts of the pitch you’d expect Australia, India or NZ to clock over 400 easily.

Match returns of 34-11-87-6 for Woakes, he'll be straight back in vs India

400 up at Edgbaston in the first ODI.

Just as well we piled on the runs as we need to fiddle at least 20 overs out of Overton, Jacks, Bethell and Root.

Overton lasts 1 ball less bowling (2) than he did whilst batting (3). Looks like the even more part time part timers will have to bowl more.

That was close, comedy bowling from WI trying to hide the ball by bowling wide of a length but just giving up more runs and deliveries to England.

It doesn’t appear that Sky have got the message that Birmingham has been dropped from the ‘Bears’ name.

Windies batsman Hetmyer playing without a helmet. I didnt know that was allowed?
I think it's been banned in English domestic cricket but the ICC haven't followed suit, so you can still go without against spin if you want to.

Glory days in the 1996 World Cup when some numpty for UAE decided to face Allan Donald without one :D

That's a poor total in the end from 205/2 with 15 overs left

Fabulous innings by Root. How we have left him out in the recent past is ridiculous considering his record.
