The Cricket Thread

Enjoying this knock from Woakes... now past 2,000 test match runs... two 6's on the trot... that's how to bat... ;)

Carse and Woakes batting well, India decide to go for the short ball ploy...both Carse and Woakes lose their heads... premeditating every ball. Carse gets bowled by a ball he'd have played quite easily an over or so ago...

Sets the game up nicely. England need to survive this evening without any loss and then in the morning they can have a blast.

In India's favour is Bumrah now being able to bowl effectively unchanged for 10-12 overs from one end (half tonight and half in the morning).

There's not much in the pitch though and their other three seamers are a sliding scale of shite. Thakur is one of the worst Test cricketers I've ever seen for a major nation.

Indeed. Surviving those spells will be important but if he gets 2 or 3 wickets then it's practically done. Think we could hang on for the draw though if we played for it but we won't.

Edit. Athers just said only 1 draw in 33 tests under Stokesy. :D

Yep and that was basically due to Mancunian rain and nothing else. We'd have won easily otherwise.

Well done Duckett...solid until 94 and then a bit erratic through to 102... but got there. Now settle and go again.

So the game moves on.... two wickets and it's back on edge... 206-2. 165 needed.

I took far less than that for a draw at 7 this morning when the Met office forecast was light rain until 2pm.

Krishna has done fuck all until after this rain break, found some form now.

If you want to be that pessimistic then have at it.

Lose this test there's always the next test, lose that then there's the next test after that...

DRS: Stokes given not out caught off his upper arm. Phew, just missed the bat
