The Cricket Thread

Duckett now has 7 scores between 83 and 98 since Feb 2023. I mean you'll take it, but he's left hundreds out there (if he cares about stats)
I said to my friend today it feels like he gets out between 80-99 a lot, glad to see I was right!

On the over rate, why don’t they start at 10:30 or 10:45 to allow more time to play into the evening? Is it all TV driven? That’s not to say they shouldn’t crack down on the rest of the delays, but of course that will never do the job.

I'm fairly sure the WTC final at Lords recently started at 10:30 rather than 11.

Seem to remember various earlier start times over the years. Perhaps faulty recollection. No playing condition issue with an early start in England until the end of August surely? While you could play later into the evening still, I appreciate the desire to get away home at some point, so just get on with it earlier.

I think that channel 4 insisted on the 1030 starts when they had the rights so that they didn’t have to move hollyoaks in their scheduling.

It never bothered the beeb as they’d just stop showing it whenever they pleased for things such as hourly news bulletins, shit horse races, etc etc.

What the hell is Thakur doing in this India team. Bowled 6 shit overs out of 74.

An awful cricketer

Pretty simple if England are still batting by close then that’s the series done

A good day of cricket.
...for England.

Been a fascinating series IMO.

The first three tests I thought India were marginally the better team overall but England won the big moments in two of the test matches. I'l also say I thought India got the rub of the green in those tests but England battled through and now have their foot on the neck of the Indians. Tomorrow they really could kill them off.

I've thoroughly enjoyed seeing the personal battles among the players as well as the technique and skill. This is what Test cricket is all about.

Congratulations to Joe Root. Seems to have cut the nonsense from his game this series and got back to doing what he does best. The rewards have come. Another 15 to 20 tests, perhaps two years, and he could be the top run scorer of all time. Some achievement that would be. Some achievement it is already!

Complete dominance by England, India look in proper feel sorry for themselves mode currently. Bowling has been appalling especially to one of the best batsmen to ever play the game.
