The FFS Burnley 1 Wolves 1 Verdict thread

Yes, you can - that's a penalty all day long

All day long? No Seen them given? Very occasionally Is it harsh? Yes.
I posted a still of the view from behind the goal and it shows the decision probably wasn’t that outrageous but the still never tells the full picture.

Not a million years is that a pen against Liverpool, Utd, etc.

Might not be overt corruption, but VAR just reinforces the matey bias our referees have in favour of the normal big 6.

Careful , you sound like me.

Who slipped Dion Dublin a wrap of whizz before kick off?

Jesus christ I dont know what was worse the last minute equaliser or his dribble

I'm absolutely fucking furious at that decision, it's going to piss me off until at least Monday and if we lose i have no idea how long it will be. If Wood had scored the header then fair enough we could have criticised the defending which was atrocious but the penalty decision is just so wrong. We can't deny it hits his arm but at point does he deliberately do it, at no point does he make his body bigger, it doesn't impact on where the ball ends up as it was hitting Doc anyway. Added to that Wood's foot is dangerous and he misses the ball so Doc has his forearm up slightly to just stop any foot hitting him in the face. Watching it live i thought Dean had given foot up and the game was all but over. We got a penalty late against Burnley earlier in the season which wasn't one either so some will argue it's evened itself out but that's bollocks as well.

Just to criticise us a little, we were excellent up until Coady gave Wood the chance to drop down and then we just seemed to switch off. Gave them too many chances to pump the ball in our box and eventually it did cost us although through no fault of our own imo.

I'm talking about the Man City one there. If you haven't seen it there's a Twitter link. I'm saying "yes, you can see why people think there's bias as the handball by Silva is very clear."

Fair enough thought it was ours

Think the starting position of the players involved make it difficult to give dangerous play, there's a fair distance between Wood and Doherty, even when the ball strikes his arm they're some way from touching. It's perhaps a bit harsh but Doherty has given him a decision to make by floating in there like a nonce, either challenge him properly or stay out the way. That lack of decisiveness/commitment hasn't cost him today.

Concerning that Wood has found the space to even attempt that given the situation. Three centre halves in there with Wolves very deep and compact but their only real forward still finds the time to attempt s bicycle kick with the wingback being the closest player to challenge? Something has gone wrong there. In that position Boly should be right up his arse and if so there's no way he attempts that bicycle kick.

Agreed. Doherty has let us down there. Complete fucking pussy.

I consider you one of my better mates on here, Lycan, so it brings me absolutely no joy to say that we really should be avoiding this kind of phrasing. We're better than that.

Definitely understand the sentiment, though.

Penalty aside, if Traore knew how to make a run into the box when Neto was free twice down the right we might have made it 2-0 but he just ambles around the edge of the area in that situation.

Agreed that wound me up. Especially when Neto's shot came out and Burnley cleared it easily.

Another reason why he should have brought Moutinho off and left Raul on (for Donk).

To avoid the emotional rant immediately after the final whistle always best to reflect once blood has cooled down. Was I gutted? Absolutely, am I still gutted? Absolutely
Played well and scored a superb goal following excellent work by Traore that should have won any game, and we did manage the game well until we entered injury time, then we had a Sheffield Utd style melt down and lost control and stopped doing the simple things that we had done for 90 odd minutes. That needs sorting
As for the the penalty, VAR or not we should not have allowed that situation in the first place. I’m not blaming him just commenting but Doc is an experienced player and should not have gone charging in. On second look, which VAR did, I would have been calling for that if it was up the other end
Take it on the chin, 2 points lost to go with the point last week, learn from it and move on
The rollercoaster ride continues...that’s football watching our Wolves side at the moment, don’t you just love it

The more I watch it and see it from different angles it’s moving from an outrageous call-harsh-seen them given. I’m not as angry now plus we put this pressure on ourselves and should have conceded just before anyway.
We’re in serious danger of missing out completely now considering Arsenal are now winning to.

You wouldn't enjoy Scotland.

Regular turn of phrase to describe someone as a pussy/cunt etc where I'm from. I use the word cunt to describe my friends sometimes.

Agree with that.

Coady gives them a free kick, Patricio goes walkies before Doc gives them a opportunity for a penalty.

Lots of mistakes in a very short space of time

Doesn't really change the gendered nature of either word.

Last I'll say about it, carry on.
