The FIFA Debacle

That is the biggest thing for me. Looks like Platini is planning to bring Blatter down.

Holy shit. It's all happening.

Platini will be hoping Dnipro and Sevilla put on a show tonight.

Plenty of time as well to sort out the world cup venues.

2018 - England

2022 - Australia

Not a chance that will happen Frank. Qatar might bite the dust, but no way Russia will.

Yeah, not enough monkey chants in the last tourney...

I've just finished reading Behind The Curtain by Jonathan Wilson so I'm having a bit of a love in with Eastern European football atm.

Comments from Blatter:

This is a difficult time for football, the fans and for Fifa as an organisation... such misconduct has no place in football and we will ensure that those who engage in it are put out of the game

Better fire himself then, the corrupt cunt

UEFA are now threatening to boycott Friday's general assembly unless the presidential election is postponed.

Sadly whatever threats EUFA makes other than to leave FIFA, will just be a tub thumping exercise where Blatter is concerned, and he will just carry on as before, impervious to criticism.

The main threat to FIFA has to be from the public and the sponsors, the source of the "cash" in the first place.

I will watch the sponsors reactions particularly and will happily avoid purchasing any products that sponsor FIFA while Blatter is still involved, and e mail their HQ to say so.

A small gesture from one man of course, but does anyone remember the Shell oil rig situation way back, when the public boycott of Shell, reversed their decision about dumping/scrapping the rig in their intended destination pretty quickly.

For Platini to step in, though? That's not really a huge improvement from what I can tell.

Same end of the shit stick for me. Blatter voted for USA, while Platini was wining and dining the Qatari's and making sure certain people got certain jobs after the bid. I'm sure both he and the German FA's were under pressure from their governments because they were after the big contracts from Qatar

2010 World cup also being investigated.

FIFA in meltdown.

1998 World Cup also on the hit list!

VISA, Hyundai, McDonalds and Coke have all come out saying they have reservations regarding FIFA, although why did they have to wait till now to come out with that? Rather then before they threw millions and millions at FIFA.
