The Football News Thread 2024/25

My second thought, after the circus one was how long would it take before someone climbed up it?

Certainly ambitious plans for a club that apparently would have run out of money this year and won't be needing financial support from the government to build it

Gary Neville suggested a few small things that could have been done to raise money for the former players association like a dinner with the proceeds going to it or current players giving a miniscule fraction to help out players that do a lot around the club (I think the figure was £40k which is obviously extremely small fry to a club that generated money in the top 3 of world football) and Ratcliffes's response was that nobody had suggested any such things to him. Always amazes me with the people they have around then that they ignore things like this that just look aesthetically terrible.

I personally don't see this being built to the concept shown by the club today.

As previously said by langers that it's a kick in the teeth for those laid off.

More importantly how is this going to be financed & what will be the Greater Manchester council's contribution be?
Or Trafford Borough Council's?

Everything I've read into potential funding has been referenced as Greater Manchester borough council. Sir Jim has also stated no public finance will be required so it's a wait & see.

Ineos can fund the build and lump it as debt in the club which is repaid by the glazers issuing more equity to ratcliffe

The club won’t actually part with a penny

Wasn't sure where this should go, but Dele Alli has continued his transformation into Freddy Adu by getting a straight red 9 minutes into his Como debut, which was also his first pro appearance in over 2 years.

Got to feel for the kid. Won't be the first to get overexcited on his come back, hopefully he can just brush it off and enjoy what remains of the season for him

I can't think of many better places to live in Europe tbh, I hope he stays there for a few years and really enjoys himself. Still only 28 as well so there's plenty of time for him to continue to rebuild and make a success of his career.

Agreed. I can't imagine what it must feel like to get to the summit and then have it all fall apart. Kind of impressive that he's back in a top flight side at all, regardless of Serie A's standard slipping of late.
